Where will Klopp go next?
Re: Klopp's next gig
futbol wrote:He's already appointed as Bayern's next coach. Pep will take another sabbatical next year and then succeed Pellegrini in 2017. Geez, so obvious.
20 year avatar bet.
I actually do think there's a good chance Klopp will take over Bayern, his sabbatical just fits so perfectly with Peps reluctance to renew...
Though I'm basing this assesment mostly on the assumption that someone like Klopp wouldn't usually take a sabbatical, despite never having met the man.

Re: Klopp's next gig
Watch him get found out at his next club without the genius of Watzke.
Nah in all seriousness i think he will do well, but i do believe his marriage with Dortmund was perfect.

Well Tuchels impact makes one suspect that Klopp might be a bit one-dimensional, yes. But his one dimension sure is bloody awesome.

That's because Tuchel is more like Pep

Re: Klopp's next gig
I think tactical one-dimensionality was just a part in Kloppo's last season though.
Think many things came together, complacency, saturation, tiredness, all together with the fact league opponents had learned how to deal with Klopp's football. 7 years is a long, long time.
Even Pep ceded possession to an extent to Dortmund since he knew they were more harmless that way
But with a squad in full juice and hungry players his heavy metal approach can be just as powerful and successful again.
Especially in England.

Re: Klopp's next gig
Oh yes, don't get me wrong, I don't think Dortmund sucked last season because Klopp sucked, I think sometimes teams just are in a slump, IMHO they already started improving heavily under Klopp when the end of the season drew near.
But I just feel Tuchel is more of a tinkerer, and more likely to adjust to his opposition. Change things up, you know. Klopp would just be like "their wingers are really fast, let's play a defense-minded winger like Großkreutz ourselves" and that's it. Tuchel is more likely to change the entire shape of the team.

Dortmund is a proper club, maybe the best operated club in football. You have to wonder how Klopp would do if he goes to Liverpool, their management FSG do not look very competent.

Re: Klopp's next gig
Pretty sure he would bring trusted scouts, and of course his assistant.
Of course not having a competent DoF is a problem with some English clubs, but then Klopp would have vastly more resources at his disposal

I'm skeptical about club taking over a big team. He had a lot of tactical problems in the Bundesliga after the 2nd title because he never adjusted to teams sitting deep and created no automatisms or positioning for his team to deal with it. They tried the same formula over and over again. It worked in the cl because they faced teams that were supposed protagonists such as Man City, Real Madrid etc teams that afforded his team the space they cherished. They struggled against Malaga because of the reduced space and they didn't deal with it well and Juventus sat back and countered.
I hope Klopp is using this break to improve, unlike Mourinho whose tactics have never changed and have been exposed every single time he stayed longer than 3 years.

Re: Klopp's next gig
It's amazing how clueless our owners are.
Apparently they've been "warned off of Klopp" by someone who's had first hand experience under him.
Honestly, Americans should stick to their own shitty sports. They shouldn't invest in sports they have zero idea of. Either that, or Rodgers have a black-mail worthy photo of all of them.
I can't think of any other scenario, why they are so massively behind the mediocrity that's Brendan Rodgers and not even talking to likes of Klopp who is clearly interested.

As much as Klopp deserves the appreciation for Dortmund, lot of important work of that "team building" was also done by Michael Zorc and Watzke. And of course the scouts !!

Well, IIRC, the HSV said "thanks, but no thanks" to Kloppo in 2008, because he usually ran around unshaven and in threadbare jeansNatalie Portman wrote:It's amazing how clueless our owners are.

BTW, it would be cool to see him at Gladbach, but I fear he'd be too expensive.

Re: Klopp's next gig
Glazers had 2 men who had a clue what they were doing running the club tho
David Gil and SAF
nobody at Liverpool has a clue
there was stability already at the club when the Glazers came in Liverpool has been trying to figure it out for 20 odd years now

Rafa was the best thing to happen to us for the past 25 years and the Yanks ran him out. I agree with Jibers. At the moment we are a mid table shit team that honestly is as relevant as West Ham and Newcastle.

Nah the media will always make you more relevant than a mid table team.
Rightly or wrongly.
