Re: CL QF: Juventus Vs Monaco
He obviously meant that the ref made a mistake awarding a penalty. It should have been a red and a free kick, not a penalty.

Nabil Dirar: "Juve are worse than Arsenal who are stronger"

This guy is letting a fluke success against Arsenal get to his head, glad they lost.

Juve still have to finish this off though.
Hope they don't have their usual CL choke.

it's not a choke to lose to Monaco lol. It was a strange choice to play Carvalho over Wallace and Toulalan was absent... they always play a lot better at home too.

it's not like Monaco didn't miss clear chances too ( Carrasco and Silva ...)
exactly
It was not a great match , very balanced . the foul to give pernalty was out area so it doesn't make sense to complain about the red card not given to Carvalho
I think there were two contacts one in and one on the line. If its on the line than its a penalty as the line is part of the box according to fifa rules. (bear in mind I was watching in shitty stream)
1-0 as the fairest result for us and them. We deserved to win.

Re: CL QF: Juventus Vs Monaco
It was foul ( how much was naive Carvalho ? GK could take it and he risked even red card for it . A player so experienced can't make these errors ) but I think it was out area, even Gianluca Vialli Juve legend 1996 said it on Sky . I don't care though.
Vidal played his best match this year I think , this was his worst season with Juve definitely but he played a match worth of old period.
Monaco played the match expected , they are really solid defensively, I can't realize how they can be solid with Raggi as fullback ( Raggi was a mediocre defender in Italy, he was even a Bari bencher ) , credit to Jardim for it .
They played a good match considering Juve is superior and they played away but they are really poor offensively so I can't imagine Monaco prevaling at 2nd leg. 1-0 is a perfect result for Juve. The fairest result today anyway.

Personally thought Abdennour was immense tonight, really stopped the majority of Juve's attacks.

I don't know if you realize that and if you watch Juve matches often, but I have a while ago, that vidal plays so so so much better in CL matches than in Serie A. You can see him everywhere in the pitch in CL, while in Serie A he is very static. I rarely saw him touch the ball last week vs Parma. Not only that, he also sparked against Inter, Napoli and Roma (2015).
So, my conclusion is: Vidal sparks in big games, because he finds more motivation. What do you think?

Same here man... I felt the same way. He stopped Morata on a couple of occasions. He was their rock.

Re: CL QF: Juventus Vs Monaco
I don't think Parma counts tbh , noone cares about Parma match because league was closed and all though for Monaco . The players care to not get injured basically .. but for the rest I agree about your matter , Vidal lost motivations this year ( you lose them when you are used to win leagues in a row ) and he finds them in Champions League.

What do you think about him in the big Serie A matches? I think that the start of his 'come back' would be around the Inter game.

It might be , he played very well in 1st leg against us . The Tevez goal was because of Vidal . Probably you don't need of motivations for Derby d'Italia.
I mean , even Podolski who looks like an Erasmus student played very well against you, his best match with Inter also for work rate, and infact we Inter fans decieved about him believing he'd been very useful ffs

Re: CL QF: Juventus Vs Monaco
I agree with this conclusion. I think it is similar for the divisions where one team is the best (Juventus, Bayern, PSG). Last month it was Thiago Silva who talked about how the motivation for Champions League is much greater than the motivation for Ligue 1, and if the PSG players had the same mentality for Ligue 1, they would win easy. It is true, that the big matches bring more energy and excitement. I do not know about Juve, but I will guess that the atmosphere at the stadium is much more clear for a CL match than it is for a domestic match. This is also something that Silva mentioned.salmano9 wrote:So, my conclusion is: Vidal sparks in big games, because he finds more motivation. What do you think?
I think that Guardiola experiments often for Bundesliga matches because he knows the team will win the championship always. Maybe it is the Bayern fans getting bored of the domestic dominance. I am sure that they look forward to Champions League more than they do to Bundesliga. I am sure it is the same for Juventus fans, and maybe even PSG fans ( but the championship is more competitive this season in France ).

Re: CL QF: Juventus Vs Monaco
We were bottling the league in 2010 because players had the head on Champions League .
We were raped by Catania before of Chelsea match at Stamford Bridge. It was incredible how we loooked like 2 different teams in just 3 days.
The head is more important than foot in football . The real tiredness is the mental tiredness and also for this reason the turnover (considered as rotation of players ) is overrated as concept.

Re: CL QF: Juventus Vs Monaco
Monaco is not poor offensively. They just choose to cover defensively first because all the CBs are slow footed... they tried to play expansive offensive footy to start the season and they got crushed defensively. BUT, when they decide to attack, they are quite good at it:
- Toulalan covers the defensive mid and Moutinho/Kondogbia attack
= Kurzawa and Fabinho are good offensive fullbacks
- Silva and Carrasco are talented wing players
The only soft spot is CF because Martial is really young and Berbatov is always injured. So the efficiency is really up and down.
