Just because football isn't an objective sport, like running or swimming, doesn't mean we have to be blind at the clear improvement of the athletes, who are much better now than in 1995 in general.

No. But we're talking about 90s football here, not 50s. Maldini played in the 80s against Maradona as well as in the CL final in 2007 and was voted defender of the year by UEFA despite being way past his prime and 40 years old. So that current players must be "much better" than 90s footballers just because "sport evolution" is a stupid notion and hence belongs in this thread. That might be valid for 50s footballers.

it's the same thing in these football related facebook pages   ( trolls , memes etc...) it's mostly indian and african posters with broken english .
where are all the english speakers form other parts of the world ?

in fact, the reason i didn't join the original forums was because i assumed  they'd be populated by the same 15 year old nigerian and indian kids i see fighting over Ronaldo and Messi in the comments .

Ok, stoitchkov surely was better than Pedro, I was overamphasizing. But the difference is small, that was my point and I still stand by it... if you watch football from the early 90's... the lack of quality is painful to watch.

To be fair, the quality of defenders and the defensive work of midfielders in the modern game is hardly any better than it was back then. I know I'd take Tony Adams past his prime over pretty much any other defender who's currently active I don't know why people always think that "right now is better than it has ever been before".
