CDR Final : FC Barcelona vs Atletic Bilbao | May 30
Barcelona will have home advantage for its Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao after Spain's football federation voted on Wednesday for the Camp Nou as the venue.
Both finalists had originally asked to play the May 30 decider at Real Madrid's 81,000-seater Bernabeu stadium. However, the venue for Copa finals must be offered voluntarily and Madrid made no such offer.
After two hours of talks failed to resolve the issue, the federation's executive committee took a vote from four stadium options: Barcelona, Bilbao, Valencia and Sevilla.
The Camp Nou, with its maximum capacity of 98,700, was chosen ahead of Bilbao's 53,300-capacity San Mames stadium in the final round of voting.

Made the thread for the final early, just to discuss how we would have the home advantage. La Liga and CDR incoming?

We are playing this at home? How is this fair to Bilbao?

It could've been in the Calderon, Mestalla or in Sevilla. Why is the Bernabeu the only option?

Yea this is ridiculous; should of been a neutral location. i understand last year when it was a derby they played at the Bernabeu (even then that was super stupid), but this just makes no sense. El Calderon would of been close enough to both teams and been a neutral ground.

Then again; the larger the stadium the more money they can make and as someone mentioned Bilbao should get 50% of the seats.

The plan was to hold it in Sevilla's RSP after RM had refused but it was already reserved for some event in that week. The Mestalla apparently was also considered at the beginning but was eventually scrapped, too.
Bilbao's and our representatives held long talks seeking an agreement but that failed, so a vote among the RFEF members had to take place between Camp Nou and San Mames which the former won 26 to 18.

the only advantage we will have is having a well kept field.
the tickets will be split in half and i believe 15% of the tickets will be to the neutrals..
so maybe a small advantage?
the field advantage didn't help madrid when they played against atletico two years ago in the final in bernabeu

Their normal home games don't have a 50/50 ticket split though. And no matter how funny it may sound the superior playing surface of the Camp Nou does play a part in that record, as opposed to the potato fields in obscure Spanish cities they play on away.

after a trophyless season, Barcelona Fc has won their first trophy of the season thanks to the huge influence of General Messi in RFEF voting...

yeah that's what i meant by the field thing being our biggest advantage.. which really shouldn't be but whatever.
the tickets will be split evenly so home crowd wont help us more than they'll help athletic.

The tickets are 40% for each teams, and 20% to rfef.
both parties accepted, for athletic's case probably to get more money off the attendance.. so hardly any controversy
but regardless no real huge advantage for us for picking camp nou

I'll take it tbh, but I agree it is unfair for Bilbao.

Just two years ago Refdrid played the final in Bernabeu, there's nothing extraordinary in it.

But on that one I figured the agreement was made due to it being a derby, on this it make's no sense other than the argument we have a larger stadium which brings in more revenue. Either way playing at the Mestalla would of made more sense, given it's not that far from either teams home town and still a pretty good size, and a neutral venue.

Absolutely ridiculous decision by RFEF to have it in Camp Nou. With all the decisions that could have ended up in neutral zone, it comes down right to the home of 1 of two strongest teams in La Liga.
Hefty disadvantage for Athletic yet I can't wait till it fires them up and they go all in.

lol apparently in the finals of cdr, the team which is oldest is represented as the home team.
we will most likely use our away kits and possibly the away locker room for this match if we were to follow protocol .
also the spanish national anthem will probably be booed by 80% of the fans in stadium as-well

Athletic is too pathetic to win it even with that little bit of extra motivation...wont be surprised if our players bring their kids and start posing for photo even before the game
