Its not odd.By now all keepers know his style.They know he likes to wait till the last moment before deciding which way he wants to go.So now keepers dont dive early.They delay right till the moment he takes his kicks.Messi gets confused and the result is a weak and easily savable penalty.
Needs to change approach.Just premediate a direction,run up fast and go low and hard in that direction.

I won't go that far lol. He makes very good runs but his final touch/pass/decision let's him down. Shame really.

seriously now, how much worse would it be if LE converts Pedro to second choise RB?

I can't recall a single player, who is SO talented, work like Dirk Kuyt on steroids at the same time. That's why he'll be a success at Barca unlike Ibra/Villa (to an extent).

How right I was.
Imagine if he was a barca player all this time.

What a boring performance up untill the 3rd goal. Ill go further, untill the set piece 2nd and penalty 3rd it was a bad performance.

Good thing is Rayo understandably fell apart and we racked up a big score and more importantly we took advantage of a chance to go top.

Messi should just do the honourable thing and relieve himself of pen duties, he is ruined psychologically from the spot. Or better yet, just simplify the situation as Alex said.

And someone please tell Mascherano to stop sliding into tackles you cant win, when there is help right in front of you. It will cost us a set piece goal in an important game sooner or later.

Thought Xavi played well in his 60 minutes, should have had a 2nd assist but of course Pedro is who he is and does almost nothing useful in 9 out of 10 games.

Pedro gave a very good assist to Messi. That's hardly doing nothing. Same as Xavi who is being complimented. An ok game from Pedro, far from bad. People is just hating for the sake of hating.

So Xavi a midfielder assisting is the same as Pedro?

Normally, one expects assists from Xavi and an occasional goal, but you expect both from inside forward (if that what's Pedro supposed to be). Pedro has been in Tello level for so long. He is a decent sub. Nothing more. He had 2-3 good seasons and mediocre 3-4. Either Barca don't suit him, or he is just average. Take your pick! Either way, he is not Barca's first team material. And with Alen and Deulo coming, probably not even a rotation material. You defending him constantly has gotten so stale that I doubt even you believe in what you write.

I believe in it 100%, Pedro has been very good this season and playing at a very good level. Off course he is not starter material with our current front 3, which is probably the best forward line in our history, but he is a fantastic sub and rotation guy to have. I'm ok if we sell him at the end of the season because we have tons of young forwards coming through, but I really don't understand the constant criticism for a rotation player who is doing quite well and avergaing 1 goal/assist per 90 minutes.

And yeah, getting an assist is kinda equal for a winger than for a barça midfielder, and he played an all round Ok game.

Every forward misses sometimes, ask Suarez.

Sometimes? Pedro messes up, just sometimes?

The thing with Pedro is that he has occasional glimpses of form (just like a few games before IIRC) and even in his worst day he runs a lot which is useful at least when he comes as a sub.
Having said that, Munir and Sandro definitely deserve more chances
