Arjen Robben Appreciation Thread
Couldn't find a appreciation thread, so here we go:
Best form of his career right now. 19 goals this season, with 13 more league games + CL. Should reach 30 goal mark easily. Already established himself as Dutch Legend before the No Era Penal
Can argued him being the best player since 2013. Carried young dutch team and van Gaal to 3rd place and a PK shoot out from a WC final.

It's astonishing how he evolved from being the "glass man" to Bayern's super star who seems to be like good wine and keeps getting better with age.

Robben is a beast. Absolutely incredible player that has gotten even better since the WC. Outside of Messi I can't think of a player I'd prefer to have on my team over him.

Yep. When he's feeling it he's nigh unstoppable. Another great goal today. It's too bad that we'll probably have to wait until Bergwijn or Nouri come into their prime before we see another Dutch player at his level.

yup, guy always had injury issues at madrid, for some reason now he's spring chicken. very talented player , i think the injuries and perception of him as a selfish player in his earlier years at chelsea have made some never really warm up to his football. his ability to unsettle defenders by running at them is very impressive. the ability to take control of a game on his own.......not to make this about madrid, but we lack that right now

He's too quick for someone who's 32.

It's because he averages something like 10 full games per season.
Robben @ 32: 493 club appearances (God knows how many of them are appearances where ge goes off injured after 20 minutes).
Neymar @ 24: 350 club appearances.
143 game difference. That's 3 seasons of football despite an 8 year age difference. Gap would be even bigger if minutes were compared because I'm sure at least half of Robben's caps aren't anywhere near 90 minute games.

Having said that, it's really impressive that he is so quick after 5000 muscle injuries. Messi had like 2 or 3 muscle injuries since 2013 and he already looks a lot slower than 5 years ago. Same with Ronaldo who is a lot slower than he used to be.

Tbf Messi's actual speed hasn't changed much. He just doesn't use it as much, whether for laziness or fear of another injury I have no clue. And Ronaldo is more due to age than much else.

Nah, Messi accelerates a lot slower with the ball. You immediately see the difference when you watch older dribbling videos of him.
When he dribbles now he beats the defenders on the first step with a body feint/drop of the shoulder/neat footwork but then often can't get very far because the same defender is immediately on his back again and it ends up in a tussle. Yesterday was a prime example when he beat Alexis first then Alexis came again from behind and it ended in tussle where Messi ended up fouling Alexis. I think it's why he doesn't go straight at goal with his dribblings anymore, instead he looks to release the ball to Neymar with a pass after he beat his first man.
Last season it wasn't as bad as it is now though. After his last injury he looks extremely slow this season. Maybe it's just a fitness issue and he'll pick up the pace again, who knows.

I mostly disagree, Messi has barely lost any pace.

Apparently Robben is just a beast in training and works harder than anyone to make sure he's getting back to fitness and always improving. Sucks he's had so many injuries.

He clearly has though, he doesn't have the 0-100 explosion he used to. Not that it matters as he's improved in other areas like his decision making and overall intelligence and he has Neymar-Suarez in front of him but i don't see anyone can say he's as fast as he was.

You are right, he clearly has. Look how easy defenders are catching him up nowadays... and this with the advantadge Messi has because he is carrying the ball, and we all know when you carry the ball you can accelerate, stop and run much faster than without it.
