Re: The Pogba War
Di Marzio wrote:Paul Pogba is the biggest name in the transfer news headlines these days. Many top clubs are interested in the French midfielder, with Manchester City taking concrete steps recently. The Citizens sent Soriano and Beguiristain to Torino last week where they met with Juve to discuss potential players to use in the deal (including Yaya Toure', Dzeko and Jovetic who are all expected to leave regardless of the potential Pogba deal), as well as Pogba and his agent Raiola to go over their project. This is isn't the first time Manchester City met with Raiola, they also had discussions in London previously.
There are other clubs in the race. PSG continues to pursue Pogba but the player so far isn't convinced by the destination, as well as Barcelona who has made an offer deemed too low (they could increase their bid after the president election, but they also couldn't acquire him until after transfer ban expires). Juventus is waiting for the right offer, maybe from Chelsea or Manchester United who could make a bid of up to €100 million, an offer so high that would make them consider selling even though they have no need to complete the deal. Pogba has suitors all over Europe, City is trying to anticipate the other contenders.

Arsenal have a better chance than PSG signing him anyway

Re: The Pogba War
Perhaps yea. Arsene can pull him and doubt he is greedy for money to go to PSG. However bar PSG, the likes of Madrid, Barca, Bayern, City, Chelsea all will be better lures than us imo.

If he is to leave, he'll go to Spain IMO. I really can't see him turning down both Barca AND Madrid.
Assuming Madrid are interested anyway.

Yea let's hope he doesn't.
Would be nice if he stays for another few years at least and become a legend.

Re: The Pogba War
Unless Pogba is unsettled, which he clearly isn't, we gain nothing from selling him
People say "But how can you turn down crazy money?"
What difference does it make when that money would be spent replacing him with 2-3 players + wages anyway?
The alternative, is we bank some of the Pogba money. Which leads to fans going nuts and crucifying the board every time we lose a big match after that, and it's a lose lose situation.

Re: The Pogba War
PSG can't offer him big salary because of the FFP rule. And as @S said I don't see him moving this summer plus City,Arsenal, Barca have bigger chance of landing him than PSG.

Re: The Pogba War
Typically Tom, when a player of the irk of Pogba extends with a club without an exit clause although he was adamant about one (as Raiola kept saying) and below market wages, there's a "wink wink" agreement that, if the player asks to leave for a higher wage and that wage can't be matched by the current club, he is allowed to leave if a pre-arranged minimum transfer fee is met. So for Juve to keep him, Pogba would have to turn down 15 mil net or Juve pay him 15 mil net... neither option will likely happen.
Bayern, Madrid, Barca, PSG, City, Chelsea, etc. get away with playing hard ball with players is that they pay whatever market wage the player demands or more. At PSG for example, that's why you saw Silva, Ibra and Verratti get massive pay increases although they were nowhere near the end of their contract... the club refused to sell and didn't have to since they "out-waged" everyone out there.
Maybe Juve breaks the bank and pays Pogba his value... but i doubt it.

Re: The Pogba War
Other option is that Pogba decides to stay... which is highly doubtful if he's getting offered 15 mil net as being reported. Even 10 mil net is doubtful. He's making 7-8 mil gross right now which is 4-5 mil net. He's not stupid.

Re: The Pogba War
15m net isn't the 'value' of 22 year old Pogba though.
It just isn't. That's more than everyone bar Ronaldo and Messi get, and I seriously doubt PSG offered that money in the first place.

Re: The Pogba War
Dont know why people are still insisting with PSG.He wont take a step down to play in Ligue 1.
If he aims to win Ballon D'or,ideally he'd want to play in more serious leagues. He's going to get paid big money by other top teams anyway.

Re: The Pogba War
it's the CL and international football success that could get you the BO .
he can do both in PSG .
people insist with PSG because it's his hometown club , that would also be able to outbid everyone and offer him the highest salary .
