Frog and JJ are both unreliable and mistake-prone CBs that need to play next to an experienced CB that leads the defense and that keeps their attention sky high, I don't think they can play together.

Since they became starters 3 seasons ago they played shit for the majority of the games except when they played in a 3man defense next to Samuel or Rolando. I don't think that insisting in that CB partnership will somehow starts to work after 3 years, the only hope is that one is dropped in favour to Vidic, but then again, he's not in a great relationship with Mancio.
Inter should've just bought Rolando, if not this summer, this january.

As for the captaincy yea, he's not really a worthy replacement for JZ4, but it was really difficult to find one.

Conte considers resignation?

Antonio Conte insisted he won’t resign as Italy Coach before Euro 2016, but today’s papers all claim he’s ready to quit.

The tactician is reportedly furious after being forced to cancel his planned February get-together with players because Juventus and Roma would not release their stars.

The Serie A calendar for 2015-16 was announced yesterday and although there is an early ending to the season on May 15, the Coppa Italia Final remains up in the air.

Conte had specifically requested the campaign finish with enough time for him to prepare the Azzurri for Euro 2016.

Although Conte was adamant he would not leave the job before that tournament, today’s front pages of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport all insist he is livid with the Serie A clubs and considering his resignation.

“I’ll stay in my post until the European Championships in 2016,” the 45-year-old told La Repubblica.

“That’s never been an option, I think I’m a very responsible person, especially in difficult times, and this is one of those times.

“I made an important commitment, pushed the the enthusiasm of the President of the Federation to turn things around and I intend to respect that.

“I expect greater co-operation from the clubs. To bridge the gap to other nations, I must be able to work as a Coach, not just as a selector.

“Otherwise you could have had anyone else in my place, someone even less expensive.”

---

This is a really interesting matter, but I can't side with Conte on this one.

Releasing the players in February? Right in the middle of Coppa, CL quarters.. sure.

The 2014/15 Calcio Saga II - Page 20 Empty Re: The 2014/15 Calcio Saga II

Post by Kaladin Sat Feb 07, 2015 10:21 am

Inter striker Mauro Icardi revealed he “knows nothing about football,” is anything but a party animal and how he reacted to Diego Maradona’s comments.

“Football is a sport I have fun with, but I play it and that’s all,” he told Sportweek. “I never watch games and know nothing about what’s going on in the sport.

“I don’t follow other Serie A results or know who got into the Coppa Italia semi-final. Who is the Chelsea goalkeeper? I know that, I’m not stupid.

“I’ve always been like that, ever since I was a kid. At the Barcelona youth academy I lived right next to Camp Nou, but I spent my days watching movies. There are plenty of professional players who couldn’t care less about football.”

The Argentine forward is known as one of the most controversial characters in Serie A, mostly for his off the field soap opera with Wanda Nara, the ex-wife of his former best friend and teammate Maxi Lopez.

He became a father for the first time last month and unveiled a giant tattoo of her name, Francesca, along his collarbone.

“Wanda says I’m a 40-year-old trapped in a 20-year-old’s body. She’s right, it has always been like that. I’ve been more mature than my years since I was 10, so my mother and her friends said the same.

“It’s thanks to my mother, who let me free to crash face-first into a few walls. She helped me understand life is not Disneyland.”

Curiously, Icardi’s 41-year-old mother has recently given birth to twins, so the player who turns 22 later this month will be surrounded by babies.

He already lives with Nara’s three children from her marriage to Maxi Lopez, his former Sampdoria teammate.

Because of that affair, Maradona famously said he’d have given Icardi “a good kicking” in the locker room.

“When they told me what he said, I had a good laugh. He didn’t want me taking part in the Match for Peace, but I went anyway.

“I think people should just focus on their own lives and mind their own business before talking. Nobody is 100 per cent clean. I don’t talk to Maxi Lopez and neither does Wanda. He phones every day, we read his name on the display and hand it over to the kids. That’s it.

Icardi also shakes off criticism of his love for fast cars, expensive jewellery and materialistic trinkets.

“I am a bit of a chav. My agent tells me that all the time too. I have a Lamborghini, a Rolls Royce and a cold Hummer. I just got the name of an expert and will have all the interiors customised.

“I don’t know why I keep getting roped in with the so-called ‘bad boys’ of football. I really don’t care either. The unhappy people are those who listen to others. I never listened to anyone and I’m very happy.”

Should point out "I know nothing about whats going on" and "know nothing about football" are not the same.

Respect to Icardi for his honesty in that interview.

Never cared much for Wanda-gate personally. Not our business to know that stuff and it has little bearing on what happens on the pitch.

As refreshing as Assou-Ekotto admitting he's a mercenary, even though it finished off his ailing career.

Toro has been exceptional in this 2015. Won 3-2 against Cesena away, won 1-0 against Inter away, trashed Sampdoria 5-1, won 3-1 against Hellas away where it's always hard to win and only drew against Milan in a match where they had like 25 shots against Milan's one. They're my dark horse for a EL spot.

In all likelihood he said "soy un poco cheto" which would translate to "I'm a bit posh" rather than chav. A 'cheto' in Argentina is someone that has nice/expensive stuff.

I actually respect assou ekotto for saying what he did. There's so much to life then just football. Once you go pro its not all flowers and roses.. alot of professional football players are zombies and don't really enjoy life.. Money isn't everything

Despite the pessimism that some Roma fans may have about this season, i personally think that it's been an amicable campaign for Roma. Juve are still Juve, they will always be a cut above the rest. Though, what Roma have done well is replacing their departed players. Manolas and Mbiwa have been great replacing the Mehdi-Castan partnership, especially the former as every time i've seen him, he reminds me of TS when he was at Milan. Holebas is underappreciated LB who has been more than enough to exceed Dodo's time at Roma. Finally, Seydou has been outstanding filling in for the injured Strootman for the most part. The only quips that i have is the acquisition of Iturbe and Cole, as well as not pouncing on another keeper or at the very least a vice-MDS.

I think it's less pessimism and more frustration. At full-strength and confidence, this team is on par with Juve. They've already shown that. The injuries, the form, the suspensions, international duty as well as Rudi's tactical inflexibility have all hit at once and there really has been no respite.

The feeling is this should've been our year to finally end Juve's dominance and emerge from their shadow and we're failing to do that. There may not be a better time to do this and I think knowing that all season and seeing the results we're getting is simply causing Romanisti to say it's not good enough.

Indeed. MOTM for us today with De Sanctis a close second with his epic saves. Verde, much like Florenzi and Romagnoli before him, appears to be coming out of nowhere. This will no doubt earn him the adoration of all Romanisti and a good deal of confidence in him from Rudi as well. The question just remains how much more time he'll get this season. With AFCON over, Gervinho and Doumbia will be coming back and they will be expected to take over spots in the team that will likely drop Verde and perhaps one of Ljajic/Totti to the bench.

Yea, I think these youngsters coming from Roma's youth team and being Romanisti through and through will most likely stay and become clubs legend whereas those youngsters that Sabatini racks up across the world like Paredes, Ucan, Sanabria will be sold for big money at the first big offer like Lamela, Marquinhos and Jedvaj.

Daniel Green Very Happy

Good victory , we need of 11 points so as to stay in Serie A now. Next match against bogey team Atalanta Mad

My main positive notes :

- Brozovic MOTM today hmm He looks like a complete player

- Guarin  confirms to be Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,  he was difference maker with a goal and 2 assist today

- Santon didn't play for much time but he still confirms to be an improvement over Dodò ( rofl awful player  ) and Nagatomo. 2  solid matches  against Napoli and today  for him . He looked like improved from English experiences for personality. Basically he doesn't look like the " shy" Bambino as we called him ... I am glad he is back.

-Icardi  of course.  2 goals for him and 1 post. Not celebrated Balotelli-esque because he discussed against ultras after Sassuolo match. He reminds me sometimes Vieri as player (although he must improve about it , for teammwork , but I talk simply about some aspects.  Vieri could keep  the whole attack alone,he was a beast).

He won the battle against Dybala today.
Icardi scored 2 goals while Dybala missed this incredible goal

OMG
