Re: CL R16: Chelsea vs PSG
S , PSG right know don't have the level to reach the CL final. Chelsea is stronger than them imo. Last year, Psg was great but this year there are not as good as last year : Thiago's injuries are not helping, Zlatan is coming back from injury, Cavani and Lavezzi are not reliable as of now...
Meanwhile Chelsea got 2 WC midfielders and a clinical goalscorer.
I'm not expecting Chelsea to win by a big margin but can't see them lose.

Valkyrja wrote:Chelsea easily. People tend to forget that Chelsea are much, much better than they were last year. Young players like Hazard and Oscar have gained much more experience in the time being, and they also added 3 top 5 players in their positions in Matic (best DM in the world), Cesc and Costa.
I forgot to say that the only player PSG bought is a Chelsea reject

Eh? Isn't half the PSG squad injured again? Nevermind that the players are blatantly playing to get Blanc sacked?

Re: CL R16: Chelsea vs PSG
Tbf their only important injuries were Lucas and Matuidi ( who I think will play). There is no excuse really, even without Lucas.
I think both matches will be more even than people think, Chelsea haven't been as good as they were at the stat of the season performance wise.
There is also the possibility of Mou screwing it up with his defensive formation, like putting Ramires or Luis/Azpi on the midfield.

Nah PSG are crap this season, it's not about the injuries they have just been bad.
Chelsea are comfortably better this time and like most of the ties it's pretty obvious who is going through. Only one which will be competitive is Dortmund and Juventus and that's only if Dortmund play like they have in the CL if not then an easy Juve win.

Re: CL R16: Chelsea vs PSG
There's no bench for PSG due to injuries... main guys will be Pastore , Bahebeck, Rabiot and Digne. The starting XI is fine: Sirigu, Van Der Wiel, Silva, Luiz, Maxwell, Motta, Matuidi, Verratti, Lavezzi, Cavani, Ibra.
It will really come down to the starting XI being very good, which they aren't right now. Motta and Matuidi are slightly injured... so those are ones to watch too. I'm assuming they'll be healthy come game day.

Re: CL R16: Chelsea vs PSG
off the pitch fight started.....
The Paris St Germain manager Laurent Blanc has warned his players José Mourinho will seek to “raise the temperature on the pitch” when Chelsea visit Parc des Princes on Tuesday, and urged them to remain calm and not react to any provocation.
“I know José Mourinho a bit, and I know he’ll raise the temperature on the pitch in this game. So my players need to be cold, they need to be calm, and they mustn’t react even when it is hot out there on the turf. They must stay calm and cold. We can’t afford any more yellow cards. It’s a real test for Marco, but I think he has matured and will cope with it.”

Re: CL R16: Chelsea vs PSG
The only reason last year it was close it was because we couldn't play Matic and were forced to play Luiz in midfield who in the first leg was awful, scored an own goal, couldn't pass 5 yards etc, plus no Cesc and Costa and yet we progressed anyway. Can't see anything bar Chelsea trashing PSG.

No the only reason it was close last year was because Cavani couldn't hit a barn door.

Re: CL R16: Chelsea vs PSG
Should be Chelsea's tie all the way long. PSG can't even top the French league with their star-studded squad - a squad that is starting to look like it could use some fresh blood anyway. Chelsea have signed that fresh blood in Fabregas, Costa and Cuadrado. PSG's cycle seems to be on a downward curve while Chelsea's is on the up and I expect the team from London to go through here.

Re: CL R16: Chelsea vs PSG
tbh, PSG are playing much better the past month... 2 games ago against Lyon, they dominated and should have scored 4-5 if not for Lopez playing like prime Neuer. Against Caen, they were up 2-0 and completely dominating until losing 5 players to injury and going down to 9 men. They were really getting on a roll. The point total is a result from a disastrous start... but they are only 2 points behind first place when they were something like 7 points out at one point.
If i had to rate their current play, it's the best it's been all year. BUT, too many injuries... looks like Motta won't make it for tomorrow and Pastore is going to get a test tomorrow morning.
When you have guys like Motta, Lucas Moura, Cabaye, maybe Pastore and Aurier out... you have lost both starting quality and depth. The team is far too thin for a matchup like this. A shame really.

Re: CL R16: Chelsea vs PSG
yeah sports, against Caen it was probably one of their best if not their best performance this season. If they play like that I can see them even winning tomorrow's match. This will only be a one way game if PSG's defense have an off day like vs barcelona, and tbh Chelsea's attack isn't half as scary as MSN.
this is the only CL match i will be a neutral, hope its a good game.

Re: CL R16: Chelsea vs PSG
Other than Oscar, all those guys are scrub Brazil players. PSG has Marquinhos, Silva, Luiz, and Lucas Moura. Only Maxwell would be considered a Brazil NT scub.

Re: CL R16: Chelsea vs PSG
the only Brazillian player I like from those teams is Filipe Luis, and he isnt even playing lol I could care less about the others.
edit: but thinking about it again, I think I will be supporting PSG just because I dislike the brazilian players from chelsea lol
Oscar is a scrub just like the others btw. (inb4 he gives another Juve performance)

Re: CL R16: Chelsea vs PSG
Calma, Oscar isn't a scrub. He's up there with Kevin Nolan and Kevin Prince Boateng and the others AMs that neglect playmaking and creating chances for other and focus on scoring goals and working hard.

Always said I fancy Chelsea this season because they are the only team that can actually defend properly in the CL. But this is by no means going to be an easy tie for them.
yeah I think those 5 goals conceded against Spurs wont matter
Edit: noted that the comment was too old
