Premier League - Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur
Chelsea will face off against Tottenham Hotspur in a midweek London
derby for Premier League Matchday 14 on Wednesday, December 3rd
derby for Premier League Matchday 14 on Wednesday, December 3rd
-
Premier League Matchday 14 sees Chelsea play host to bitter London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for a midweek fixture at Stamford Bridge. The Blues will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing result the Saturday before as they drew 0-0 with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, while Spurs will be aiming to build on a good 2-1 win over Everton at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
-
The corresponding fixture last term was a calamity of errors by the visitors resulting in a rout for their hosts, with criminally conceded goals from Samuel Eto'o, Eden Hazard, and a brace from Demba Ba sinking Tim Sherwood's hapless men 4-0.
-
Mike Dean, who last officiated for Chelsea in their 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season and for Spurs in their 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Arsenal in March, has been appointed referee for Wednesday's affair.
-
The match kicks off at 1945 GMT

Re: Premier League - Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur
Pochettino keen end Tottenham's dismal record at Chelsea:
Not since February 1990 have Spurs supporters left Stamford Bridge having seen their side get the better of the Blues in ANY competition, and Mauricio Pochettino is hoping to buck that trend tonight, having pulled off something similar during his time at Espanyol against Catalan rivals Barcelona

"Espanyol had not beaten Barcelona in the Camp Nou for 27 years. It was also the first season that Pep Guardiola was in charge at Barcelona."
"This was the third or fourth game that I was in charge and I had started to set a different style on Espanyol."
"Barcelona were at the top and the plan was to press high and to surprise them."
"Barcelona had Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto'o, Thierry Henry, Yaya Toure, Eric Abidal, Carles Puyol and Andres Iniesta. We won 2-1 and it was an unbelievable memory."
"I have full confidence we can win."

We're coming off a poor result at the weekend, they're coming off a good win vs Everton, Costa out, etc. etc.

Diego Costa's absence means nothing says Pochettino:
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is not taking Diego Costa’s absence from tonight's clash with Chelsea for granted, saying back-ups Loic Remy and Didier Drogba are quality players themselves

“Costa is a very good player – I know him from Spain.”
“But if they don’t play Costa they can play Didier Drogba or Loic Remy. These are different players, with different characteristics – but they are top players too.”
“Chelsea are the best team in the Premier League at the moment, with an unbelievable squad. In the last 14 home games they’ve kept 11 clean sheets.”
“But it’s exciting to go and play there, in a difficult stadium, and try to get three points.”
