Watched Birdman... Yeah.. no way Linklater deserves any prices for directing.

Emmanuel Lubezki, best in the business right now, how can you be so great ffs. First Gravity, now this..

In my top 5 of 2014 releases.

The Movie House - Part 4 - Page 35 Empty Re: The Movie House - Part 4

Post by RealGunner Wed Jan 28, 2015 12:21 pm

Although the outlet is sure to note that plans are in very early stages, Deadline is reporting that Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm Ltd. is eyeing Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt to potentially replace Harrison Ford as the headlining star of the Indiana Jones franchise!

Although the most recent big screen adventure, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was not entirely a hit with critics, the fourth film in the series managed to gross more than $786 million worldwide when it was released in 2008. Shortly thereafter George Lucas hinted that plans were underway for a fifth cinematic adventure, but admitted that he had yet to decide on a MacGuffin (A term popularized by Alfred Hitchcock, referring to a narrative element that drives the story forward, such as the Ark of the Covenant in Raiders of the Lost Ark). Following the sale of Lucasfilm to Walt Disney Pictures and Lucas’ own subsequent retirement, however, hints regarding plans for the future of the franchise have been few and far between. Ford, however, has suggested that he’s quite eager to reprise the role himself, despite turning 73 this year.

Pratt, who also starred last year in The LEGO Movie, is rapidly rising as a Hollywood star. He’ll appear this summer in director Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World and is set to star opposite Denzel Washington in Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming remake of The Magnificent Seven.

Was just about to post that, I think it could be interesting but I'm not yet convinced given that the role he played in Guardians relied so much on his comic ability. If he can pull of Jurassic World well then that will answer my doubts.

I wasn't aware that they were remaking The Magnificent Seven however, that's exciting, though again, one is always worried that it will be massacred. Hopefully they don't fall into the trap of bland imitation or of too heavily emphasising action over plot.

Chris Pratt is the perfect guy to play Nathan Drake(uncharted) which is a similar character to Indiana Jones minus the comedy.

I guess we'll see how he does in Jurassic World.

The Man from Earth was a great watch.

Kept me interested throughout, waiting to hear more.

Great blend of characters, obviously that's the point as you need each of their perspective's and beliefs to really make it interesting.

7.5/10 would bang.

Also The Thirteenth Floor  Randomly came across this one, went under the radar.

Matrix meets Inception and Dark City.

It had the misfortune of being released in '99,same as The Matrix.Looks like it was made in '89 though.

Well I had an action packed night. Laughing

The Raid: Redemption
Best fighting I've seen on screen in some time. The direction was surprisingly very good.
7.2/10

The Raid 2: Berandal
Follows a more Hollywood route, but doesn't fall too much into it. More interesting story. Really has more substance than the first. Fighting sacrificed a bit in comparison to the prequel, but not that much because it was still very good. Cinematography also better in this one.

So, The Departed is probably my favorite movie of the 2000s decade. I finally watched Infernal Affairs properly. The Departed is the American remake of Infernal Affairs.

Wow oh wow what a *bleep* film. Anyone who liked The Departed shoud not have any doubts and watch it. Had the same feels I had going on when I watched Departed for the first time.

@RG: Infernal Affairs not Internal hmm You sure it's the right one? It's a Chinese movie.

@Mara: Not sure. Probably Departed because I watched it first and had no idea where the plot was heading. I felt Infernal Affairs did a lot of things better than The Departed (no love triangle, Martin Sheen/Alec Baldwin character combined in one, more than an hour shorter) but The Departed had the benefit of a bigger budget so had superior cinematography (those marked for death Xs Proud ), better soundtrack etc. And Mark Wahlberg. There is no Mark Wahlberg character in Infernal Affairs.

So, first of the 5 films.

Man on Fire

What a film man. Thoroughly entertaining. Danzel Washington was excellent. Story was simple but extremely engaging. I did have a problem with how they worked the camera. Got a slight headache. Also Dakota's voice was annoying.

Great action in it. Nothing better than seeing a man go all out for just cause.

C4 down that pos' ass Laughing

Angel batista spotted too.

Glad I watched it. 7.8/10
