Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group B
Huge 3 points, They'll be more confident against us at their home. Basel away next.
I think Ludo can be proud of their performance. But playing well is not enough at the end.

Glad with the three points, but we need to start turning possession into goals more efficiently. A big game at Basel up next.

Ludogorets were quite good today honestly, but they just got too excited at the equalizer. A bad mistake from an inexperienced team. Balotelli had a very Balotelli-esque game. His stats look good, but he really should put himself about more when he doesn't have the ball.

More action packed than seeing Liverpool struggling to see off a bunch of journeymen, that's for sure

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group B
By the way, I should mention one thing here that I already posted in the Real section - the win against Basel was Real actually handed by Paolo Sousa who by now gets quite some stick for his man-management and how he coaches Basel in general.
Yesterday's match was the first time, Fabian Schär, Marek Suchy and Walter Samuel played together in a 3-man-defense (before they only played with 4 men defense in the league).
Moreover, in the last two matches, Suchy only played 4 minutes, not because he was injured or so, but because of Sousa's infinite wisdom. That Sousa subbed off Fabian Schär in the last match after 36 minutes for whatever reason and then publicly dressed him down when Schär wasn't amused to be taken off, thus ruining his confidence was just the icing on the cake.
I'm pretty sure with Murat Yakin at the helm it wouldn't have been such a steamrolling.

Basel played a 352 to dense up the defensive middle... their CBs ar are too slow to handle Madrid. It really was more a 532. I can see why he did it. Didn't think 4 defenders were enough so he went with 5. Didn't make a difference though because Basel isn't used to playing defensive tactics.

Yeah. I'm curious how long they will keep Paolo Sousa. He is fast alienating the fans with his antics, too. Normally Basel always had free training sessions where fans could watch, but nowadays, Sousa always keeps everything behind closed doors. And with his erratic line-ups, he doesn't make himself friends with the players either. I'm pretty sure Sousa will not serve the full length of his contract.

Well, the next coach will have to do some rebuilding. Actually the players aren't half bad and they have some great kids in their youth setup - they just need a coach that can get the best out of the team. Paolo Souso obviously isn't that.

I hope Basel doesnt recover well enough before we face them so that we can increase the GD to finish first in the group, having Studge back for that fixture will be necessary to smack them hard.

No doubt, on almost every position you are superior but dont tel me that anyone is so sure that he will bet his house (hyperbole but you get my point) on them to win against Liveprool in both the fixtures we just need Sturridge back, then Rodgers is forced to play diamond which suits us both defensively and attacking wise!

You said the same bout Dortmund 2 years ago ...typical glory hunters.
Anyways, I didn't watch the game, but seen the highlights and it confirmed my thoughts. No wonder Ludogorets won the treble last season and the season before and are the best Eastern European team at the moment....they're very incisive on the counter and with their main keeper back for other games, will pose a threat to any team.
Since GD in CL doesn't matter, our scrappy 2-1 win counts as much as Madrid's dominant 5-1 win. too bad

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group B
Who said that about Dortmund? All Madrid fans knew that Gundogan, Hummels, Reus and Lewandowski were WC. We all knew that Goetze was a young phenom. We were also in the midst of the Mou drama... i don't think anyone of us was truly confident. Too much going on.
But Liverpool? There's isn't a single WC player on your team ffs... you have a couple of overhyped players, which is par for the course with EPL clubs. They've got talent and potential; but nowhere near WC.
This Liverpool doesn't even reach the ankles of that Dortmund team.
Now, is it possible that Liverpool get a result against Madrid? In Madrid, no chance in hell if the game is meaningful for us. But at Liverpool, it could happen. It's just very unlikely.
Against Dortmund, we all knew that they were just as good as us if not better.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group B
If our midfield is a problem for us god knows what Liverpool think about theirs. Just the wrong combination all around. Also it doesn't matter if you have wc players everywhere as long as you play as a team. I can definitely see Sterling causing us trouble, not too worried about Sturridge.
Anyways first thing first, both of us have tough away games so lets get those out of the way before we talk about that clash
