I haven't still understood Lambert ' s signing tbh. BR prefers to play with no CFs as in 2nd half than Lambert. Obliged to insist on Balotelli ( he would be benched soon with Sturridge back ) because he doesn't rate Lambert... I don't have understood the reason to have him signed so .. just last 10 reasons for headers ?

I'll be surprised if we get a point the way we're going about it. We couldn't even do anything against them at Anfield and bottled it at the end too.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group B
Luka Modric has hinted that Liverpool did not face the full force of Real Madrid's might in Wednesday's Champions League win because they had one eye on Saturday's Clasico.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring before Karim Benzema bagged a double to ease the Blancos into a three-goal lead by the break.
Carlo Ancelotti's men appeared to drop down a gear in the second half, rather than go for the jugular, and Modric admitted that the European champions started thinking about this weekend's crunch clash with Liga leaders Barcelona.
"In the last month, or month and a half, we have looked in great shape," the Croatian midfielder told reporters at Anfield. "And we showed our top form in this iconic stadium.
"The first goal is broke them. They lost enthusiasm. Then in the second half we were saving a little bit of energy for Saturday."
Modric, who is spending his third season at the Santiago Bernabeu, believes beating Barca on Saturday would be a massive morale boost for Madrid.
"The atmosphere in the team is great and it's one of the reasons why we're playing so well," the former Tottenham star explained.
"I am ready for the Clasico, whatever the outcome is. Hopefully, we will win because it would mean a lot for our confidence."
Real Madrid are in the midst of an impressive eight-game win streak - but Barca have also been in top form, not conceding a single goal in La Liga and scoring 22 in the process.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group B
I don't think many people expected Liverpool to win this, and they could have expected much worse given our current form. That said it wasn't an awful game (though the defending was atrocious as per usual).
I still think that Liverpool has their CL future in their own hands. They can beat, and are better than, both Ludo and Basel. I still think they need more time to mesh properly with all the new players. It will come.
Modric isn't really trolling. He said in the second half, at which point they pretty much already had the game wrapped up. He is right...the game was very competitive until RM scored and then Liverpool just looked to lose all confidence and presence. This team does not seem mentally strong since losing to Chelsea last season.

Think we can top this group is we get something at the Bernabeu.
Basel and Ludogorets are manageable. I'm glad if we have to travel to eastern Europe it's Bulgaria instead of Russia or Ukraine.
And then pretty nice tie with Basel. Switzerland has nice venues to play in and it should be nice vacation trip for our players. Rwo actually thinks Basel will like playing us.

Real Madrid
What a team
I'm still buzzing over their performance last night
Isco Varane That header by Benzema Lovely.
Ronnie Thanks for the goal you legend.
Their fluidity of their play, the break neck speed in which they counter attack. their midfield pairing of Kroos and Modric.
This is a phenomenal team and a team I want United to aspire to in terms of playing style and balance.
Granted LFC are not really nothing special this season, but the ease in which Real Madrid disposed of them was great. They could have more had they not eased off with the Classico in mind at the weekend.
My favourites to win the CL again this season.

When I said Pepe vs. Balo I was speaking more towards their combativeness not sure why that's funny, or maybe it's funny because it was actually quite tame and they exchanged shirts.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group B
What a superlative performance by our team. Only wish we couldve scored one more though , as payback for 2009 :/
But amazing team performance, right from our defense(even arbeloa and marcelo were very competent) , trio of modric kroos and isco absolutely bossing it and of course BRC.

Was that the best you guys have played this season? Just curious.
It seems to have become some sort of a norm for every team we face this season to play their best match in years.

Best against a big team I guess, after the losses to Atleti , we starting doing well from the Basel game onwards , and have even shored up our defense in the last four .

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group B
For the first half, among the best. For the whole game, no. We played extremely well in UEFA supercup and in the past month. We thumped Basel 5-1, Bilbao 5-0, Deportivo 8-2, Eiche 5-1 and Levante 5-0... all since the 16th of Sept (7 games total).Don't call me James wrote:Was that the best you guys have played this season? Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group B
We were managing out efforts in the 2nd half because of the classico coming up on Saturday... we took our foot off the gas and focused on saving energy + avoid injuries in 2nd half. If not for the clasico, you'd never see Ronaldo coming off for example.

One of the hilarious things about the game last night was the commentators of Sky... they've never seen a CB pairing that play up and recover athletically if the ball is played behind them They kept saying that the CBs looked "unsettled" when Pepe-Ramos were playing exactly like they wanted to.

Think that was GARY Neville lol
Remember this moment in the second half, when our centre halves cleared the ball comfortably like they were doing the whole game and this Neville chap is like, they look very uncomfortable . Wtf was he on about there
