Who'll win?
Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
Hapless_Hans wrote:The Franchise wrote:Gil wrote:Where is this German hype coming from by the way? They've been shit in nearly every game since Portugal and this is against average teams.
At least Brazil have beaten two of the toughest teams in the tournament.
Imma back Gil up.
Germany's performance against France was just as bad, if not worse than Brazil's vs Mexico.
Brazil's first half yesturday was better than anything Germany have done this whole tournament vs 11 men.
Yet somehow, Brazil have been "crap" and Germany "efficient".
Germany will probably still win this, but for me only because Silva and Neymar wont be there.
I don't disagree completely, however I'd have very much fancied our chances against Brazil even with Neymar and Thiago Silva.
fwiw last time we met (in a friendly...) there was a clearly visible difference in class, and that difference is still there regardless of form or game context. Neymar can easily be dealt with if he's made frustrated, we've shown that before.
Yes, it's a completely different situation with it being a semi and Brazil being the home team.
But it's not like Brazil have played like the home factor was giving them wings so far, and we are also typically a team that is up to tournament situations.
Basically, Brazil is an inferior team right now.
Doesn't mean they won't win or we should be HEAVILY favourited, mind you.
I dont think beating that Brazil is very relevant. That was at the formative stage of this Brazil, nowhere near the unity and knowledge of self. Also wasnt in Brazil and it wasnt the same Neymar, every day Neymar gets better.
I dont see Brazil as inferior at all, similar level.
But that really wasnt my point at all. My point was, I dont understand the criticism Brazil get for their performances in relation to others.

I don't think we'll destroy Brazil. I just think that 4-2-3-1 Germany can take Brazil. And I thought 4-3-3 Germany would go out to France. Didn't expect Löw to revert to a formation that might work.

Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
yeah, that friendly was utter useless. We got better and Germany got worse, + the game was in Germany now it's in Brazil. We had the likes of Robinho,Pato,Ramires,ANDRE SANTOS and Lucio starting.Only 4 players from that team are starters now.
And even with that shit team and Germany rolling over us, the final result was 3-2.Germany are favorites but they will have to sweat blood to reach the final.

This is completely glossing over the fact that Löw gave up on his retarded ideas and chose a team that could win. If he sticks with the tactics of the France clash, Germany are much much stronger than they were in that lopsided 4-3-3 that didn't really have flanks.

Exactly, my train of thought was Germany couldn't progress past France as previously constructed. But with the correct changes they can win the competition.
It's that night and day which makes it all the more baffling why it took Low so long to realize it.

Germany are filled with choke artists. I see Brazil winning through sheer force of will.
Having said that missing Silva and Nerman could be too much a hit for Brazil :/

I say if Brazil win, Netherlands win the WC, if Germany wins, they win the WC because of Dutch inferiority complex.

He has a broken back JD, you think they are lying?

If he had shown yellow card to those horrific fouls from the beginning im sure players would not be so confident tackling recklessly.
100% agree.
La Liga should be ashamed of themselves, the entire world can see the standard of their refs if this is apparently the best they have.

I don't know what people expect from Germany or Brazil.
Germany:
Schweinsteiger was injured at the start of the tournament, Khedira wasn't fit enough. Besides Kroos and Lahm, we've got scrubs in central midfield. Löw was alternating piggy and Khedira to be able to have a midfield for 90 minutes. In attack, Klose is old and all other strikers suck. To compensate for that Löw build the team around our best attacking outlet who was out before the tournament started, Marco Reus. Our whole attack was ruined before the tournament started. It's like Brazil losing Nerman before the tournament started. Özil came back from an injury as well, he still isn't at 100%. Our leftbacks suck so we have a CB as a leftback -> Höwedes. As the result, nothing attacking wise happens on his side because he doesn't overlap at all.
We'd like to play hooray footy and please you, armchair coaches, but the circumstances don't allow the team to perform like they did at previous tournaments. The saving grace this time around was that Hummels finally transmittid his club form to NT level. He is f*cking beast. And no, those professionals who get the chance to win a WC every 4 years once and some of them with their last try (piggy, Lahm etc.) won't play silly footy to please the crowd if the situation doesn't allow to.
As for Brazil, I don't get all the hatred towards them. They're a team who came back from a majour rebuilding. What did people expect? They're giving their all during their games but need more time/ experience to become a real force. I like how Brazil presented itself during this world cup. I hope they get back to the highest level during the next 4 years

Brazil and any other team with little experience will choke badly on the biggest stage. Any team that won a WC was vastly experienced in tournaments. I'm not afraid of Brazil and I don't think that Germany is much better than Brazil at the moment. Brazil is just a fresh team who found their togetherness. It won't be enough to get past an experienced side on the same level or bit more.

Experience is a button our journalists have been pushing a lot.Scars make a winning team, and these German players have plenty of them, specially the Bayern ones.Hopefully home advantage cancels that out or something, considering Germany will be playing in a atmosphere they are not used to.

Bayern play better away from home If anything, Brazil will feel the need to attack/open the game as the hosts at home. Germany will be waiting for this. In an alternate world where Scolari is at Mourinho's level, Brazil will always have 6 of their outfield players+GK in their own half.

Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
To pick a balanced team maybe Babun lol? 4 cbs, with Lahm in midfield, 2 slow and technical AMs on the wing who won't help the converted CBs and Muller as the CF.
It was a horrific mess and there was no excuse for it, good job he's learnt his lesson now though....

Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
I personally want to either see a Brazil-Argentina final or Germany-Holland.
Germany-Argentina would be alright also and I think this one has highest likelihood of happening.
I just don't want to see Brazil-Holland. That would be a garbage final.

I need David Luiz to score another winner. Him winning player of the tournament would rustle so many jimmies. Needs to summon the spirit of Amarildo and Cannavaro for this game.

him winning player of the tournament for his goal scoring exploits won't change the fact that he's an average defender.

He'll win it if he's MoTM against Germany and Brazil go on to win the World Cup. Being the best player on the pitch against Chile, Colombia and Germany would seal it for him.
Being the only player to do the impossible and get Fred to score would be the cherry on top.
The fact that some of you think it's impossible is exactly why it would be so sweet.

the chances of david luiz having a brain fart , costing his team ,and Gil being yet behind another shitty prediciton for this WC , are much more higher than him getting anywhere near player of the tournament tbh.
