Who'll win?
Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
Well, Germany were ineffective enough to get into the semi final. Mind you, we do create sufficient amounts of chances - now let's just hope that in the next match, there will be fewer sitters missed.

Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
You would make Germany favourite, now Low has finally figured out his best team which is actually balanced combined with Injury of Neymar and suspension of Silva.
But i'm not going to rule out Brazil at all, homecrowd is a factor plus they an extremely solid team who is dangerous from set pieces. You can't rule out such a team.

No you cannot rule them out at all, that's why Brazil winning against us wouldn't be a "miracle" at all, but a normal outcome.

I just hope there will not be a home referee and that the next referee will be a bit more strict against players hackling down others.

Gil wrote:Where is this German hype coming from by the way? They've been shit in nearly every game since Portugal and this is against average teams.
At least Brazil have beaten two of the toughest teams in the tournament.
Imma back Gil up.
Germany's performance against France was just as bad, if not worse than Brazil's vs Mexico.
Brazil's first half yesturday was better than anything Germany have done this whole tournament vs 11 men.
Yet somehow, Brazil have been "crap" and Germany "efficient". It needs explaining to me because I dont get it.
Germany will probably still win this, but for me only because Silva and Neymar wont be there.

I don't disagree completely, however I'd have very much fancied our chances against Brazil even with Neymar and Thiago Silva.
fwiw last time we met (in a friendly...) there was a clearly visible difference in class, and that difference is still there regardless of form or game context. Neymar can easily be dealt with if he's made frustrated, we've shown that before.
Yes, it's a completely different situation with it being a semi and Brazil being the home team.
But it's not like Brazil have played like the home factor was giving them wings so far, and we are also typically a team that is up to tournament situations.
Basically, Brazil is an inferior team right now.
Doesn't mean they won't win or we should be HEAVILY favourited, mind you.

Brazil need their top offensive players to shine. Marcelo, Oscar, Hulk have to deliver.

Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
As for Gil, sorry that's not serious argumentation. For you a team is either shit or great, there's nothing in between.
We weren't shit against Ghana, we weren't shit against USA, and we weren't shit against Algeria.
There were good and bad things in our performances, except for against the US where we had no trouble at all, but then that was indeed a average opponent.

My point of them being ineffective is because of my High expectation from them. A narrow escape from Algeria [ yeah they didnt drink a drop of water all 120 mins ] and France [ They were doing good all this WC ]is not what i predicted before the game. They are very solid team and is balance in all the areas. Yes they created a lot of chances and that's why i mentioned them 'attack minded' and inefficient for not converting them.
And if you ask me how German reaches the semi with this performance then have a look at the bookies rating , they are in top 3 since the beginning.

Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
At least we'll have a semi final which should be a true contest with neither side lacking in belief or know how. I am giving just a slight edge to Brazil because they are the hosts and they have this knack of finding some individual or the other to step up when the need arises.
Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
Ganso wrote:btw,Germany never won and never scored a goal against us in a WC
As far as I know the two teams have met only once - the WC 2002 final which Brazil won 2-0. Just one match perhaps does not give one team anything in terms of mental edge over the other. Brazil's real bogie team was France and they should sort of thank Germany for knocking them out.
Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
I don't have to ask you. I'm German and the semi final is the least we expect of our team, no matter who's on the pitchzenmaster wrote:And if you ask me how German reaches the semi with this performance then have a look at the bookies rating , they are in top 3 since the beginning.

Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
We were shit in 2002 though.
Our form is kind of bad this time around, yes, but the quality is there.
I say we can do Brazil. I was mostly convinced France would knock us out, but Löw reverted back to a system that actually works. If we keep the 4-2-3-1, and either leave out Özil or let him play the #10, we can do Brazil. Could've done them in even with Silva and Nerman.
But it will be very, very, very tough. And I probably will be able to manage my disappointment if we get knocked out by Brazil.

I predict a Germany victory , my favorite for the title since May
You know what in every other way bar one it should be Germany #2 and Italy #3 on an all time list but the clincher is that Italy have that extra star which sort of overrules everything else including even Euros and world cup final appearances. So if Germany win the world cup they unquestionably move ahead of Italy in an all time world order. Two consecutive world cup group stage exits is really disgraceful for a footballing superpower like Italy I am sorry to say.
Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany
scrap that argument I made about the friendly
just realized how long ago that was, and that it really cannot be taken as evidence for anything what with the Confed cup in between etc

That's so true. The commentator said yesterday that Germany are the only team to have made the last four world cup semi finals and no team matches their consistency including even Brazil. Also I think Germany leads in terms of maximum semi final appearances in world cups.

Yeah we were awesome in that friendly, but that was before the Confed cup, maybe even before the Euros?

When Brazil was managed by I suppose Mano Menezes and the less Brazilians hear that name the better.

BTW, I'm always really amused when people call the German team "shit". I bet there are quite some countries who would wish to have an NT that is as shit as ours

Seriously though normally I don't support either of these teams but against Brazil I'll support Germany.

Well, we, in 2002, were Germany-shit, not international class shit. We still made the finals. But compared to Germany from 2010 and onwards, the 2002 team was a pub team. I doubt even Schnix would make the current squad.

I really don't know where those people are coming from and especially now that Germany are in the semi finals such comments are completely meaningless. Yes perhaps Germany haven't played that well all the time but then neither have the other big teams.
