Donuts wrote:if pepe moves out of brazil at the age of 18 it's fine to nationalize for another country..
if diego costa does it at age 21 everyone thinks its a sin and destroy him
completely different things, Costa played for Brazil in two friendly and only just got his Spanish Nationality last year
while Pepe has never played for any Brazilian youth NT team

Re: Mou the racist
What Mourinho actually should of said is:
"Making your teammates defend with 10 men for so long was a big handicap. And the fact that he's not even Portuguese absolutely clinically insane should have influenced him to act differently, which he didn't."
Costa and Pepe situations are different. Pepe has been in Portugal since the turn of the millennium and has traces of Portuguese blood whereas Diego Costa is a fraud and can never been considering a Spaniard considering his characteristics as a person and complete lack of allegiance to our flag.
I fail to see how this is racist, more as politically incorrect (something people focus FAR too much on now).
Mourinho is many many things yet he is not a racist.

Re: Mou the racist
If you want to criticize Pepe for his error that's fine, but there was no reason to mention his nationality at all because it was irrelevant for his point. Mourinho once again showing what an ignorant, low-life, narcistic scumbag he is and oh he never fails to convince everyone of that.

Doesnt make him Portugeese imo.
This week, My friend got nationalised in Australia within 5 years but nobody can convince me hes Australian.
Messi has been in Spain since he was 13, is he Spanish? Is he Spanish if he doesnt apply for a passport?
lot of south americans go to Portugal etc to get nautralised so they can move on to bigger clubs that they couldnt have gone to with no european passport.

Re: Mou the racist
Well the country of Portugal thinks he has lived there long enough to be called Portuguese, and that's all it takes. I doubt either Portugal or Pepe care much about whether you think that's enough.

Yes but this is a forum.
I never claimed my opinion carried any weight in the halls of power in Porugal nor the family home of Pepe.

Re: Mou the racist
tbh.. the comment has a pretty questionable undertone. Call it xenophobia, call it racism, I would just call it class discrimination.
Hes pretty much saying that the fact the Pepe is "not even portuguese", he has an additional obligation to do the right thing by his team mates, because he is lucky to even be in the side.
Thus, treating Pepe like a second class citizen.
I think this is what sportz has been trying to say.. or maybe I am misinterpreting?

Re: Mou the racist
Mou is profiling Pepe as someone who is a second class citizen because "he's not even Portuguese" (which he is according to the Portuguese govt btw). Racism is a broad term and doesn't necessarily apply to just color or religion... it can also apply to people from another country. Xenophobia, which is what this is, is a form of racism where you descriminate against people from other countries.

Re: Mou the racist
Mourinho has been questionable since that Eto'o conversation came out.
Would the same have been said if Deco got a red? I really doubt it.

Re: Mou the racist
While I agree racism is a board term, the way it is commonly used would not fit what Mourinho said about Pepe. Xenophobic, class discrimination, dickery? I would tick all three but racism, not the way I know racism to be.
And there is one factor that seems to be overlooked here: Mourinho does not like Pepe. Pepe was the guy who cut ties with Mourhino when everyone was going for his (Jose) throat. The Mourinho does not forget...

Re: Mou the racist
The irony is that four of Portugals greatest ever are "not Portuguese".. Eusebio, Deco, Coluna, Peyroteo..
If anything Portugal should give great credit to their colonies for carrying them for so long.

That's my impression too, though it's impossible to say with sportz's nonsensical translation what the **** he meant. I don't know pepes story, did he move to Portugal when he was 18? If that's true then sure it's not racist or xenophobic to not think that guy as Portuguese (apart from some radical nutjobs who want to wholly and entirely abolish national identity ) But I don't know what point he was trying to make about it though. To me it sounds like he's saying pepe should be grateful to have been accepted into the Portugal nt and have a stronger will not to let the team down
