I'm just going to put it out there.
I think the acclaimed goal line technology is faulty.

Valbuena was great too. Griezmann started slow but picked it up and was key to france's domination
I won't call it a great performance. It was largely route one football with not too much spark to write volumes about. They played a team which is more a rugby team than a football team. Honduras know so little about what to do with the ball and their mantra is to kick the opposition player who has the ball. The one reason no one will want to play them is who knows how many legs they will break making it difficult to continue at the world cup. Besides they were down to ten men so soon. Anyway France did the needful which is what is most important for your first match. Their true potential will be revealed to us slowly. As it stands I find Netherlands and Italy better and Brazil have more noteworthy individual skill. Now it's time for Argentina and tomorrow let's behold Germany! Then we will get a more complete picture of how things are.

One of those games where you are trying not get injured and get the win... when the opponent is trying to break your legs every time you try something, you get a good lead and then play it safe. Showed that France is capable of doing the job and Benz can be a lead man... next 2 games will actually show how they truly play.

Re: World Cup: Group E discussion
I didn't think Griezmann was that good tbh.
Cabaye doe
Benzema was fantastic and to think the last two tournaments i bet on him for top scorer and he doesn't score now he does
Still baffles me how little some people rate him though lol, he's legitimately a World Class footballer.

You bet on Benzema being top scorer on 2010 World Cup You must have had a lot of faith on him.

Mole you're (understandably) forgetting that Benzema wasn't called up in South Africa by RD. Hence why his record for France in a World Cup cannot be questioned until this tournament.
Griezmann indeed did not perform well yet he never will considering DD has chosen to isolate him quite wide with little freedom to drift inside and pass.

Ottmar Hitzfeld BOTH of his substitutes scored Switzerland's goals in their 2-1 win.

Re: World Cup: Group E discussion
I thought Griezmann was excelllent... as did all the media and Deschamps in fact. In today's press conf, DD was asked whether he expected Griezmann to play at such a high level in his first tournament game for NT... his response was that Griezmann is only on his 5th cap and it took him a couple of games to get over the butterflies.
Really an excellent game last night. His runs and movement were extremely smart as usual and was also a presence in the box when needed. Most importantly, he tracked back into position very well. Granted, it was Honduras. But i loved how he looked out there.
Some journalist asked DD if he was reminded of Ribery in 2006... bit much yet. But let's see how the next coupe of games go.
The two best players of the last game do the press conf the next day... namely Benz and Griezmann in about an hour or so.

Switzerland v France today, a huge game. The losing side will most likely (finish 2nd and) face Argentina in last-16.
Ecuador v Honduras also on today.

Re: World Cup: Group E discussion
A bit risky to change a team that played well... Deschamps will either be lauded for his subs or heavily criticized.
I understand the logic though. Switzerland play a low and physical line. You need someone who can get on the crosses. Also, Sissoko has a better workrate than Pogba + Pogba is on a yellow and you want to have him available for Ecuador since Ecuador is less organized.

It's getting a bit embarrassing for the Swiss. How Behrami is in this team, I don't know.

He did well in the last attack, but was awful otherwise. Has been awful again and his backpass gifted France the crucial 2nd goal.
