For me, the point why I think the red is not BLATANTLY wrong is that he extended the already studs up reckless challenge with a tiny little kicking extension in the end, and that's what the ref saw as he was right there.
However, in general and in the context of the game it was a mistake to give it, should'Ve been yellow.

Re: World Cup: Group D discussion
It has been clear this forum beside Azzuri tifosi are jovial on the knock out of Italia; yet if you think that was a Red Card, say hello to your 20/20 hindsight you sheep.
In slow motion, anything can be produced as a more viable card in any spectrum of officiating. A 'stomp' is your Tibial condial compressing to actually produce a kick against your own weight and onto a certain object. In the case of Marchisio, having your calf being intercepted by an oncoming player in the intention of winning the ball, is NOT a Red Card in any dimension, a straight yellow justifiable yet of course this visually impaired Mexican felt entitled to produce a decision that completely changed Italia's plan upside-down.
Subsequently, Luis Suarez with his third reaction to seeking piquant flavour in an opposition individual, was ignored despite Cheillini clearly producing evidence of bite marks that even a Badger would struggle to perform.
No comment on that, as a Liverpool supporter I am used to such antics from this enigma, as I could not defend him vs Ivanovic nor can I defend him now.
In terms of our World Cup; even in my most morose state I am only unhappy with our performance versus Costa Rica as quite frankly tonight was a case of pure misfortune and a lot of hindsight will be causing impulse to make our performances a lot worse than what they were.
I did not, could not defend Espana yet I hope the more level-headed ones will not see this as the end of the world for us.
Both my nations out in the group stages in the worst possible fashion. Football can go *bleep* itself.

He made it when he was Inter manager after having lost Uefa Cup final to penalty kicks.
The insults of San Siro to him were decisive .He had offended. Moratti tried even to convince him to change idea lol
Take example

What makes it worse is that Pirlo and Buffon gave it their all. Pirlo had 90% passing accuracy while Buffon made wonder save after wonder save to keep Italy in the game. Just heart wrenching.
Re: World Cup: Group D discussion
To be fair that is a yellow card challenge.
Intentions have nothing to do with Red cards, i agree..if you do dangerous play, regardless of intentions it is a red card. When Nani made his footmarks on Arbeloa's ribs it was clear red to me yet in this case intention or no intention there wasnt really any huge force coming from Marchisio nor did it resulted in a clear stomp.

Re: World Cup: Group D discussion
The real FLOP group of this WC.
I thought it would have been the most amusing WC, but OMG what a disappointment, in a WC basically nice to look
- Costa Rica : the winner of group . And I think to have said all with this.
They deserved it, but they are always an average NT.
Simply they will TRY sometimes to play football . The others 3 not.minimum requisites.
They will be knocked out at 16
- Uruguay . Scrub. Nothing to see with past Uruguay . Negative impressions were confirmed.
It passed just because Italy and England were even worse than it . But it was a fight between scrub NTs
- Italy . The most ppl thought to watch an Italy similar to Euro2012 , after the first match expecially . total collapse.
NO SHOTS ON TARGET in last 2 matches. I don't remind a similar thing.
- England : 1 point, it was not even able to win against Costa Rica and it have made looking great the Italy.

Ditto. Prandelli raised him like a son against all the firestorms, and this clown let him down.

Italy haven't won any of their last nine games in which Daniele De Rossi hasn't played. Incredible.
Which goes to prove my two-year belief in how Danielle De Rossi is more than the best player for the Azzuri yet also the most important.
I knew De Rossi being injured vs Uruguay would be a massive massive loss and it showed today.

Well, I'm relieved Italy went out as you know Germany's record against Italy. I'm sorry about the way you went out, though. IMO Marchisio only should have gotten a yellow, while Suárez staying on the pitch after his bite-attack was utterly ridiculous.Robespierre wrote:Except me , arquitescu, tom , juveman , ES , flameas and forgive me if I forgot some other he whole Goallegacy will be glad for it, all supported against Italy on chat lol
Awful WC from us. Awful . No excuses. We could win just against England

I agree and no with this. He was their best player against Spain, but Pirlo was better the rest of the tournament when De Rossi palyed as a mezz'ala.
This tournament De Rossi was their best player again vs England, but he was average vs Costa Rica.
This last game wasn't lost b/c of his absence. As much as I disliked Balo and Immobile next to each other (every time the ball got to them in deeper positions the play was dead), Marchisio was the main moron, Uruguay weren't even in the game until that point.

Chiellini is the last man in the earth who can cry for these things anyway.
Asking to Berghessio . And I don't think a bite is worse than a killer tackle who destroyes the other fibulas .

Ah football life is great. I was hoping either England or Italy don't go through but lord and behold, both England AND Italy are out. If you didn't believe there was a God, this does not help you in anyway but since I do, big man upstairs and me probably had a hearty laugh together.
And Suarez bit someone...again who happen to be Chellini, a Juventus defender I do not like nor do I rate. You cannot make this up at all....

Italy lacked the hunger needed so Suarez, naturally it seems, took the iniative and kicked them out. Move on. Italy didn't deserve to go through the group stages with the performances they put in anyway.

Neither did Uruguay. Terrible performance outclassed by Costa Rica even more than Italy was, followed by a performance against England that was defined mostly by Suarez being a good finisher and being able to stop a mediocre English team (even then, Rooney missed two sitters) and scraped by Italy in a game where both teams were...average at best.
They'll go out next round, as Italy probably would have.
The only impressive team from the group was Costa Rica hats off to them though.
