Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Few reasons:
First, Azpilicueta is a RB, Ivanovic is getting older and won't be around forever so eventually Azp will have to move back to RB.
Second, Cole is rather likely to leave on a free at the end of the season, so we'll only have Azp, Bertrand and PVA at LB, Bertrand may want out and PVA more than likely isn't good enough so we need a LB.
Even if it is a back up LB for next season, hence why Moreno would be a good choice.

We do have a barginning chip in Marin.
Savilla want Marin and if we can more easily get a deal with them unless Madrid are going to offer crazy money for him.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Barcelona have signed young Hungarian midfielder Tajti Matyas, reports in Spain have claimed.
Mundo Deportivo says Matyas will join La Masia after choosing Barca over Real Madrid, having graduated from the Ferenc Puskas academy.
Madrid felt their link with the academy would see Matyas move to the capital but the player has plumped for La Blaugrana.
Barca were yesterday given the green light to resume transfer activity after FIFA confirmed the club’s appeal against the transfer ban imposed for irregularities in the signing of foreign under-18s would see the punishment suspended until the full appeal process is carried out.
Alen Halilovic will also join the Barca youth ranks, Mundo Deportivo notes, as will his brother Dino.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Inter have reportedly added Roma’s Mattia Destro to their list of potential targets to reinforce their attack with this summer.
Destro has impressed for the Giallorossi since returning from injury with a goal ratio greater than one a game this term.
A former youth graduate for the Nerazzurri, who was sold in 2010 to Genoa as part of the deal that saw Andrea Ranocchia join La Beneamata, reports this week from a number of outlets are that the Milan outfit have identified the 23-year-old as another possible target this summer.
Known and confirmed by their President Erick Thohir to hold hope of signing one from Edin Dzeko, Fernando Torres and Alvaro Morata this summer, Tuttosport and Calciomercato.com lead the way in assessing that Destro has emerged as a fourth option.
It is believed that Inter see the striker as having the potential to link well with Rodrigo Palacio and Mauro Icardi, whilst like Morata he is also one who would aid in the club’s focus to reduce the playing staff’s average age.
However, Roma are seen as unwilling to part with Destro and hold him to a valuation of €25m. The capital club paid a total of €16m to sign him in 2012.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to try again for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender.
The Telegraph says Wenger’s focus this summer is central midfield and at least one, and possibly two, additional strikers.
A renewed bid for Bender, the Bayer Leverkusen holding midfielder, can be expected after a £20 million offer was rejected last summer.

Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis is eyeing a return to Argentina.
The 33-year-old has come under a lot of criticism at City this year but has managed to end the season strongly, even netting a couple of goals.
Demichelis said: "I am totally thankful to the club in which I started my career, I am a River Plate supporter since I was a child and I hope that I can end my career there."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
With their transfer ban suspended, Barcelona sports chief Andoni Zubizarreta is back on the case of signing two new centre-backs.
Marca says Zubi has two shortlists of names - one for an experienced centre-half and another of younger candidates capable of also playing in midfield.
David Luiz (Chelsea), Aymeric Laporte (Athletic), Mateo Musacchio (Villarreal), Iñigo Martínez (Real Sociedad) and Fabian Schar (Basel) are those considered for the younger option.
Thiago Silva (PSG), Mats Hummels (Dortmund), Daniel Agger (Liverpool), Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal), Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham) and Marquinhos (PSG) are all being tracked as Zubi also seeks an experienced defensive leader.

Luiz, who is a few days older than Vertonghen at 27, is on the list of "younger" options?
Marquinhos as an "experienced" defender?

as much as i don't like talking about rumors, i truly hope barcelona bring in vermaelen as the experienced defensive leader
also don't they need at least two defenders? with puyol retiring that leaves them with a guy who shows up three times a year, a midfielder and a youth nobody who apparently can't run at cb

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Following the FIFA Appeal Committee's decision to provisionally suspend the transfer ban handed to Barcelona for alleged irregular dealings surrounding under-18 players, Andoni Zubizarreta must now set about reshaping the squad. There is no time to lose.
There are only six players in the current squad who can consider themselves untouchable: Piqué, Busquets, Alba, Iniesta, Neymar and, obviously, Leo Messi. These heavyweights will share the dressing room with the likes of Bartra, Sergi Roberto and Adriano, who will all stay but will play a bit-part role.
Selling well is just as important as buying this time around. One of the director of football's main tasks will be to raise as much dosh as possible from those players who have been deemed surplus to requirements.
Valdés and Puyol are both certain to leave on a free, while Pinto, Cuenca, Dos Santos and Afellay are all expected to depart, though the club isn't banking on making much money off any of them.
There are also several players whose future is up in the air and could depend on what type of offers come in for them. Pedro, Alexis and Alves are all in this situation: they are available, but could well stay if the club can't find a suitable replacement. Song and Tello, on the other hand, both look to have one foot out the door and will be offloaded to the highest bidder.
Finally, there are a couple of players who won't be pushed out, but could choose to seek pastures new. This is the case for Xavi Hernández and Mascherano: the Argentine already has an offer on the table from Napoli.

Gerardo Martino's reign may not be coming to an end after all. The Argentine Coach, who still has a year to run on his contract, has been told by Barcelona's Sporting Director Andoni Zubizarreta that he has the full support of the club and that the board of directors want him to continue and start planning for next season.
During the meeting Martino was given a summary of his first season at the club and it was made clear that he has not met the objectives laid down at the beginning of his time in charge, something made public knowledge in recent weeks, even though the club still mathematically has chances to win La Liga.
Zubizarreta also made it clear to the Coach that the expectations at Barça are always set very high, but that the season has not been a typical one due to circumstances off the pitch which Martino had no control over.
The club's plan is first of all to make sure Lionel Messi continues by offering him a contract extension before beginning with a major restructure of the first team squad. The loss of a number of big name players will mean the club will not be able to cut corners when it comes to buying new players as it has been accused of doing in recent years, and that is a major reason why Martino's continuation is so important.
He will also be given the responsibility of choosing his own backroom staff. Although it has not been made public during the season, there have been a number of major conflicts at the club between the staff brought in by Martino and those still at the club from the tenure of the previous coach, Tito Vilanova.

Andres Iniesta says Lionel Messi would fail to find another club like Barcelona if he chose to leave Camp Nou this summer.
The Argentina star has cut a frustrated figure at times this season and produced several underwhelming displays as the Blaugrana's campaign has stuttered in recent weeks.
Reports have even suggested Messi could be tempted to seek a move elsewhere as a result of his unhappiness with his current contract, but Iniesta has warned his team-mate against making a hasty decision.
He told Sport: “The club will never have a player like Messi, but Messi will also never find a club like Barca. I therefore hope that he ends his career at Barca."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
The agent of Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons has revealed that there is an 80 percent chance the French midfielder will join Napoli in the summer transfer window. Frederic Guerra.
The Partenopei pursued the French international in January, with owner Aurelio De Laurentiis stating the two clubs had agreed on a fee in the range of €17 million, only for Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas to later back out of the deal.
Speaking to Radio Crc earlier this week, Frederic Guerra revealed there is a very good chance his client will finally join Napoli in the summer and that Aulas scuppered the deal in January because he did not want to sell the club’s captain midway through the season.
“The percentages of seeing Gonalons in Naples? 80 percent, the probability is strong. In a World Cup year the market begins later and later because all observers will be in Brazil.
“Benitez has liked Gonalons for some time, since he was at Liverpool. I’ve talked a lot to the player about Naples, he likes the city.
“When you change [clubs] it is the goal of the club that counts, and Gonalons does not want to go to a club that will struggle to win. If Napoli are built to win the Scudetto, Gonalons will accept. The priority is to play with Napoli.”
Guerra also discussed another client, midfielder Clement Grenier, as several clubs are reportedly interested his their services.
“Grenier? He is liked by a lot of the Italian league. He always looks at the way Napoli play and told me that this would be the ideal city for him.
“Tactically he is a playmaker. He has a little Platini and a bit of Maradona. He is also similar to Pirlo because he can play on the right wing and lower.”
