Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
Let's have an Everton Thread (they deserve it as well) and keep this thread for what it purpose was.

Atletico vs Chelsea CL matchday thread turning to Everton vs PSG
I would have understood if it was Real Madrid vs Barcelona but Everton/PSG, Jesus Christ that's a mismatch

Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
Chelsea have confirmed that Eden Hazard is a ‘major doubt’ for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.
Diego Simeone’s men host the Premier League outfit in the first leg of their European Cup semi-final next week.
But the club’s assistant manager Steve Holland has revealed that the Belgium international could miss the trip with a calf injury.
“Hazard is not definitely out for Tuesday but he hasn't trained with the squad yet which means he's a major doubt,” he told reporters.
The former Lille man limped out of the Blues’ quarter-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain two weeks ago, and has played since.

Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
Hazard doing harmless dribbles 30 meters from Atleti's goal will be a big loss for Chelsea
(jk Hazard is cool)
Schurrle tho will step up imo

Costa is already back in training and may start vs Elche tonight. Arda on the other hand is still a doubt

We need to worry about beating Sunderland first before thinking about the CL, one game at a time.

Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
I am fairly confident Terry and Cahill will have a easier time defending the physical Costa than say, the mobile Villa and Adrian combination.
The more time goes by, the more I feel Atletico will be just fine when/if they sell Costa.

Agree, but not Adrian. They'll get Baptistao back most likely.

Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
I think they will sign someone, because of Villa's age and just because spending some money to replace someone of his (Costa) stature gives the other players confidence of trying to keep the level. Bringing back a guy who is about to get relegated and has scored 1 goal in 19 games doesnt really inspire confidence.
But I didnt mean Adrian would start next year anyway, I meant just in the case Costa missed the Chelsea game/came off injured...or just tactically, generally speaking.

Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
Nah, I think the tension of the game, the level of its importance, will make up for the fact neither team play the most attractive football.
Plus it will be tactically interesting, because both teams want to do similar things, but have different ways to go about it.

Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone has confirmed that Belgian international goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois will be allowed to face his parent club, Chelsea, when the two sides compete in their Champions Leagues semi-final tie next Tuesday.
Courtois
Following his side’s 2-0 win over Elche, Simeone confirmed UEFA’s ruling that Courtois will be allowed to play, after it was originally reported that the La Liga leaders would need to pay a six million euro clause to Chelsea for the keeper to play, stating that he has never heard of anything to the contrary.
Courtois still has not decided if he will return to Chelsea or push for another loan deal after the 2014 World Cup and is eager to face his parent club and show that he is one of the top keepers in the world.
