Godzilla lived up to the hype.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is one of my favorite story-lines, and I was worried this was going to be The Wolverine level bad, but surprisingly the movie was pretty good. Not great, given how convoluted this story-line was always going to be on screen if not done perfectly, but good enough and what I expect from a Singer film.
Oh, and for FFS, stay for the button

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
I went and saw Godzilla on opening night yesterday and tbh I didn't think it was very good. I got high before seeing it because I thought it would make it better, but the entire time I just kept over-analyzing how stupid the plot was
I would have preferred it if the main character was Ken Watanabe and it was more about following around Godzilla, rather than following around the Kick-Ass guy trying to be a hero and find his family. If we were going to follow someone around on the ground, it should have been a normal person IMO ala Cloverfield, or someone who knew what was going on (again, like Watanabe), because it took away from the fact that it was a Godzilla movie by putting the giant monsters in the background of the (unoriginal, overdone, overacted) plot.
Mehh, I might have enjoyed it if I wasn't high. I will admit that was a bad choice

Have just come back from Godzilla. Didn't like it, very boring. I'm now waiting for X-Men DOFP.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Godzilla is everything you should expect from a Godzilla movie, good and bad. If you're going into it looking for Oscar-worthy acting and Citizen Kane writing then I'm sorry, but you're in the wrong theater.
Godzilla, like Pacific Rim last year and Avengers the year before is a simple, straightforward movie made to entertain. It's got its flaws, but you know what? So does basically every other film. I can think of a couple of glaring issues and some minor niggling complaints but honestly the small ones can be handwaved away and the larger ones are isolated enough that they don't detract from the movie's overall quality.
The pacing was good, the effects and fight choreography was largely fantastic, and a few of the scenes were absolutely gorgeous in frame (the HALO jump for instance)... and most of all, it was a fun and entertaining film that achieved it's set out purpose.
I can appreciate great films but I can't always enjoy them, at least not repeatedly. Godzilla, Pacific Rim, Avengers, Independence Day though... those are films I can watch repeatedly and repeatedly enjoy them. And that, for me, makes them great in their own right.

- Serious spoilers:
- Yes, the timing with the nuke on the boat was absurdly inaccurate, as was the general treatment of that last nuke.
However, those kill moves by Godzilla... god damn.

I really enjoyed the movie, but I also thought the "main not Godzilla character" was very underwhelming compared to the characters around him. So, yeah, I would have preferred the above as well...

Aaron Taylor-Johnson who I really like (i.e. Kick Ass, Savages, soon to be Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron), but his role just wasn't written very well or he just had a bad movie being surrounded by so many experienced actors. I think it was the latter honestly...

Godzilla is that type of movie that you should watch in theatres. So good for you guys.
I'll probably have to wait to download it on bluray.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
I know many here will watch Interstellar because they are big Nolan and MM fans, but don't you think the whole idea of interstellar travel in the very near future is a topic too ridiculous to be tackled seriously in a feature film? From that trailer, it seems like Nolan is attepting to make a serious movie out of this, a real drama, an epic. All I will say is that it's going to be difficult to believe the acting if the premise isn't believable. Many films of this genre (near future) are built on a stupid factual scenarios. The world the director has created is too far a stretch for people to believe that his could be a real situation tomorrow or 15 years from now. I mean, all of the worlds food is about to run out? Really? As an audience, should we consciously suspend disbelief and gloss over obvious plot holes? I don't think so. I think that a truly great film should just draw you in without you realising it.

He made Inception believable, I can't see why Interstellar isn't going to be. He has apparently been working on this film for +7 years, so he must've done his research, don't doubt for one second it will be great.

Agreeed. The movie is also based on the theories of renowned physicist Kip Thorne, he is also helping in the film.
Second trailer for Guardians Of The Galaxy.

I really can't wait for that one Channing Tatum is really maturing as an actor, we'll see how he does in Dramas. He definitely can steal a comedy as we have seen couple of times now.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Are you kidding me? Channing tatum is the worst actor to ever grace the planet. The least talented one as well. I even doubted the movie during that trailer when I saw he was in it, but Steve Carrell really does look like to have put in a performance worthy of something special, so I'll definitely see it.

Tatum, despite his obvious 'teenage-girls-like-me' association, which I'm sure all of us as normal guys find annoying, is a decent actor.
On the movie. It looks good. Always been a fan of Steve Carrell.

You're clueless if you think Tatum is decent. That can't even be categorized as opinion. Tatum is just horrid.

Tatum has amazing comedic timing, if you can't see that then you need to watch 21 jump street and this is the end. He is also quite decent in Magic Mike. He has improved so much since he started acting.

I always wondered when this would be made into a movie. Man those feels when I go see this because as a wrestler Dave Schultz was a hero of mine growing up.
