Borja banned for 4 matches, will miss Lazio, Juve and Napoli matches
The Fiorentina playmaker was handed a hefty suspension on Tuesday following his dismissal against Sampdoria
Fiorentina midfielder Borja Valero has been handed a four-match ban by the Serie A discplinary committee following his red card in the 2-2 draw with Sampdoria on Monday.
The Spaniard became involved in a scuffle with Gianni Munari as Parma prepared to take a free kick in the 94th minute, prompting referee Andrea Gervasoni to give both men their marching orders.
But while Munari has been served with just a one-game suspension, Valero's ban is longer as he put his hands on the referee in his protestations against the decision.
Lega Serie A's judgement alleged that Valero "pushed repeatedly vehemently an opposing a footballer with hands on chest" and "at the time of the consequential expulsion order, placed one hand on the referee's shoulder, pushing him."
The 29-year-old will now miss his side's forthcoming fixtures against Lazio, Juventus, Chievo and Napoli.
Coach Vincenzo Montella has also been a handed a one-match touchline ban after complaining to the officials.

In that video Valero does nothing to be sent off, he only receives two pushes from Munari...

First off, that is a very pretty woman. Right, got that out of the way.
Secondly, I saw Borja getting pushed and not the other way around but he did touch the ref though not in the same way Sterling touched Webb. All in all, everything was harsh for Borja, the red card and the absolutely ridiculous suspension.

While that's true I don't really blame the ref for kicking out both of them. But Valero should have really not touched the ref at 0:18, otherwise he would be able to appeal the decision. Now Fiorentina will miss their best player in 3 crucial matches.free_cat wrote:In that video Valero does nothing to be sent off, he only receives two pushes from Munari...

While the red was rational (for 'touching' the referee if nothing else) the suspension certainly isn't. I haven't seen the match and what I gather the card was for 'touching' the referee. So that's already a punishment.

Best player
It's really hard not to laugh at Borja when we have laughable comments like that.
Let's put it this way if Borja Valero is the best player of the 4th best team in Italy it says all you need to know about Serie A.
Luckily for Serie A he isn't and only GL can even suggest such laughable notions.

And who is better, right now? Rossi is injured, Gomez is only now recovering from a long term injury. Cuadrado, perhaps, but if that is the case then Borja is right after him.

Re: Borja banned for 4 matches, will miss Lazio, Juve and Napoli matches
I was surprised when I've read of 4 matches , though Paci of Brescia ( Serie B ) was banned 7 matches for a similar thing TBH
Of course the difference of treatment between Serie A players justifies the discontent of Fiorentina fans (it's difficult to think noone made as Borja this year) but thinking to a plot against Fiorentina (we are becoming antipatic - Montella) is ridicoulos ,Fiorentina is the squad with more penalties given this year in Serie A, well I would have liked to have this plot too ( still no penalties so far) .

Mole hates Borja because he reminds him that me and Adit have better eyes for talent than him :troll:
Borjito's send off was a disgrace tbh.

Watched the game live and the ref was weird, gave lots of controversal calls. Before Borja, he handed a very soft red for Diakite but ignored some nasty ones. Fio 2nd goal shouldnt be there at 1st place either since it's not a foul. Napoli is locked for 3rd since Fio will miss Diakite, Valero and Pizzaro through suspension.
And Borja is Fio 2nd best player after Cuadrado, by some distance though.

Re: Borja banned for 4 matches, will miss Lazio, Juve and Napoli matches
I don't hate Borja just the ridiculous overrating of players like him who are comfortable in possession but mostly toothless is beyond stupid.
There is no place in the world where Borja would be considered the best player of Fiorentina and some of the other ridiculous things he's been called on this forum other than here.
There's a difference between hate and being real.

Let's be clear: Napoli are currently 6 points ahead of Fiorentina with a superior goal difference and are in better form... regardless of Valero's punishment they have a solid hold on the final CL place in Serie A.
