Roy keeping it real as usual. Match doesn't reflect on the English Premier League given that Olympiakos are genuinely good yet his words are spot on.
Keano is right.

Re: Olympiakos 2-0 Manchester United
It probably still is as far as the league as a whole goes.... mainly due to other leagues being worse than it being great.
But if we are talking about producing the best football and the best teams at the very top level then its obviously not, but i don't think anyone denies that.

GTFI, that was beautiful
United couldn't get nothing done. Rooney was just slamming the ground in frustration in his DM position. Van Persie must be buying Young a new diving suit in gratitude for all that service, probably flight tickets to Caribia, too. One way, I reckon. And Ferdinand was sweating so much he'll probably spend the night in the dressing room shower and take his seat on the United plane tomorrow in his bathrobe, ready to tweet about how they'll keep on fighting.

They have about seven Greek born players in the team, if I recall correctly

You're right.
But the point is to highlight the Greek teams (and Greece) as a whole with the mettle they display and the character through their endeavour. Olympiakos core team is Greek despite most of them not starters but their philosophy under Marinakis is, and I love the passion behind it. Truly hope they go far.

I said it before and ill say it again. Rooney is the most over-rated player I have ever seen. How he can command even a fraction of £300k a week goes to show the way this sport is going.
Poor, poor diving cheating player. Hope he stays Uniteds & Englands goldenboy for many years to come

I was laughing at that 'stache ever since I saw the guy warming up. Deserves a role in an 80's cop show.

Re: Olympiakos 2-0 Manchester United
Have to agree. Indeed, it's EPL-centric thinking that has got Man U into this mess. Let's just all take a moment to dwell on some things: Pogba left on a free transfer to Italy, Thiago cost less than Fellaini, and Rooney is getting paid £300k a week.S wrote:Roy Keane on ITV: "We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. In football, any time you start believing your own hype, buying into your own reputation, and thinking that you are the best because you have the name, that is the time when your rivals will consolidate and advance while you fall backwards. This goes for every manager at every club.

Re: Olympiakos 2-0 Manchester United
The worst Man Utd performance I seen in a long long time.
Awful, awful.
Possession in the defensive third, but as soon it entered that zone where you expect the midfield to carry the ball or make some forward passes and get the team up the pitch. Nothing. No ability whatsoever to get from A to B (that being the half way line to the edge of the box). Instead Man Utd' entire game was based in their own half and then down the sides where Young and Valencia looked like players with almost no quality at all.
Rooney was left stranded and RVP even more so. Rooney probably should/could have dropped deeper, but Olympiakos almost man marked him with the 4141 type shape without the ball and he was stuck in limbo. RVP got nothing because of both those things and when you go so long without touching it, you snatch at it..as he did with his chance.
The back 4 and Carrick, while not stellar by any means and embarrassed in several moments could of have survived that game as winners if they had anything in front of him doing what you expect.
Terrible performance.

Re: Olympiakos 2-0 Manchester United
We've had that problem for so long now. I'm talking about our non existing midfield. But in the past under SAF, we coukd get away with it due to how effective our wing play was. Now, like seen tonight, there is no link between the defence and the attack. to the point where our defenders punt it aimlessly forward, which in turn concedes us posession. Then it takes us ages to win the ball back because our players are so lethargic and don't press, our midfield doesn't protect the back four well enough...
Carrick and cleverely don't make themselves available enough imo. and when they do, they quickly get rid of the ball and shirk responsibilty...don't move to create space. they get it and either pass it out wide or backw to the defence.
Same ol' shet, different season....just this season it has multiplied even further..

typical tackle by Roy Keane anwyay I disagree , tbh what it has stopped sometimes the English clubs in Europe are simply their coaches, as in this case

It's the best brand, but I don't think it stops there.
There are teams in other leagues, who are probably favorites to beat the top teams in the Prem right now. But when you look at the overall quality of the PL, I don't know if there are better leagues out there. If you took the top team from Germany, Spain or France against the top of the table team from England, I'd fancy the teams from other leagues than England. But if you took the top-4 from each league, or the top-6, the top-8, I'd fancy England pick up more points. Could be wrong, though. But I certainly don't see any other league being ahead in quality in a manner that would seriously back up Keane's comment.
