Centurion ?

We tried to get Banega apparently but don't think there was any chance of it ever happening.

Unless there is a miracle tomorow. We have also signed this Bridcutt guy from Brighton.

Still not a fan of how Sherwood has been lining us up, but we put up a fight longer than last time.

I don't see anyone beating City when they are on, but it doesn't hurt that they seem to be getting calls as well.

Then again, it was at the Etihad when Lloris was on shit form and City were gifted a first goal just 15 seconds in. Spurs actually were the superior side for the next 20 minutes, and Lamela had a decent chance to put it level. After the second goal, it was over, however. I fear it would have looked the same had Lloris not pulled off that miracle save to prevent a second goal. Not to mention Aguero hit the post earlier on too. Spurs simply weren't as lucky the first time as well as playing at a fortress.

He has always come and gone depending on how busy he is. I am sure he will return once the CL kicks back into gear.

What decision went to City against Spurs?

It WAS a penalty, and it WAS a red card.
The disallowed goal WAS offside as Adebayor interfered with the play.

If I remember correctly the "penalty" was all-ball and the offside goal was a 50/50 chance at best.

He made contact with Dzeko BEFORE getting a little bit off the ball. It wasn't "all ball".

Red card any day of the week, and definitely a pen. He makes contact with Dzeko before he gets the ball, yes Dzeko went down easy but so does everyone in the box when there's contact nowadays.

You can't be making scissor tackles which is a red card in itself. But he was sent off because he was the last man / restricted a goal scoring opportunity.

City look set to sign Mangala from Porto for 42m Euros.

Shocked

Look's decent, and improves City biggest weakness (lack of quality in defence next to Kompany) but that's a HUGE fee.

He has CL experience, capped for France already and look's solid. Still very young too.

He's looked solid every time I've seen him, which isn't much to be fair. Has nothing on Sakho, though. Razz Wonder what happens to Nastasic.

I'm not saying he's not good ffs. I'm saying he hasn't done shit in his career to be worth 42mill.

I never stated you said he's not good. But he's not "literally done shit all in his career".

He's done a lot more than Marquinhos, who just went for 30-35 to PSG in the summer.

No doubt his price is inflated because it's deadline day and the fact that they're buying the "potential" in him.

Pepe went for a high fee back in the day too, iirc.

Seems Newcastle successfully loaned Luuk De Jong.

Can't see him doing well under Pardew. He'll probably be played as if he's Andy Carroll ffs. Laughing

Hopefully they play him centrally and actually play to his feet with Remy playing off him. Only way I can see him doing well.

He's found it tough in the Bundesliga, read somewhere that he hasn't started a game all season so not sure if he's match fit to be honest. Shocked

to put into perspective Thiago Silva who is rated the top 2 or 1 cb today, went for 42m.

you guys gotta respect Porto though they seem to always get huge profits from selling.

Manchester City and PSG are the crazy spenders out there right now. Chelsea haven't paid a ridiculous fee since Torres (although £30m for Willian was quite a lot). Real Madrid and Barca pay the odd huge fee, but even them make more sense than City's and PSG's some deals. So, if one of these two come knocking and you're a selling club like Porto, you've pretty much hit the jackpot and should sell.

Welcome to City's bench, then, Fernando? Or is he better than Fernandinho?

He's a CB, Art. Fernandinho won't and shouldn't be dropped, he's been of the best midfielders in the league this year. Mangala will be Demichelis' direct replacement in the starting XI right now. The only question remains is what happens to Nastasic. Also means Lescott is definitely off.

Donuts wrote:to put into perspective Thiago Silva who is rated the top 2 or 1 cb today, went for 42m.

No doubt Thiago Silva is the best, but he went for when he was 28. And AC Milan WANTED to sell as they couldn't afford to keep him. So let's not forget the difference between wages here. Thiago Silva would be on double, maybe even more than what Mangala will be on.  PSG bought T. Silva thinking he'll play for a good 5 years. Mangala is bought for the future. He can play for 10+ years. He should be compared to Rio Ferdinand's transfer from Leeds to United. (Ferdinand went for him if you take into the account of inflation.) But to be fair, Rio was arguably the best CB in his age group, and has gave A LOT to United. He was a lot more proven too. It's a huge fee, but then again, a lot of deals on transfer deadline days are.

EDIT: Rumours are Fernando Reges might be part of the deal.

Oh, I was talking about Fernando, not Mangala. They're looking to sign both, I'm reading.

Mangala would probably start, I suppose, Nastasic nor Demichelis are not that special.

Yeah, I've only read about Fernando now. I just edited my post. Razz

They do need depth to be fair. Fernandinho won't be able to play every game, and Yaya is ageing too. Javi Garcia doesn't suit Pellegrini's 4222.

I rate Nastasic high. He's only 20, and is quite solid. He's been very good when I've seen him play.

To side note, I don't think the 30m paid was just for Willian, I imagine some of that went towards Eto'o as well as he still had a contract with Anzhi. So if you put it as Eto'o + Willian for 30m, that seems not bad.

Eto'o went for nothing, Kick.

Anzhi just wanted him to get off the wage bill.

You spent 30m on Willian alone looking at the books.
