Only that I don't think Pochettino was a good appointment for Tottenham, but we'll see.
We'll also see what players Southampton buy this summer. After all, they will get amply compensated for their departing star players, so with a few clever buys their situation could end up being just fine.

It ultimately depends on who they get as their manager..

Re: RIP Southampton
How much did Spurs pay to compensate for Pocchetino?
Lallana for 20m+
They've rejected a 27m bid for Shaw.
Lambert for 4m + add ons.
Lovren will probably go for over 10m.
New TV deal as well. Owners rich, too isn't he? They can potentially have a 80m+ budget. Or the owners can bank it and they can be involved in a relegation dog fight. Southampton's a team to keep an eye on next season.
Surprised no one's going in for Schneilden considering he's their best player tbh.

Re: RIP Southampton
Arsenal will go for Schneiderlin for that I'm sure, however he said he won't "ask for a transfer" in respect to Southampton. Good guy but at this rate he'll be alone there next season if he stays.

Re: RIP Southampton
This is why Pochettino quit so early on. He was probably told that every player has a price and no one will be blocked if they want to leave.
Feel sorry for their fans. Hope they can spend those 30-40m out of 92m on decent signings. Their academy is still producing good talent so that should be there.

Re: RIP Southampton
Nah, it's over mate.
They've lost World class talent like Bale, Walcott, Chamberlain, Shaw, Lallana, Lambert, Lovren, Chambers over the years & probably 3/4 more in the coming weeks. Not to mention their manager to Tottenham.
There's no incentive for them or 'smaller' clubs to keep developing/producing these players when the Top 4 snatch them up as soon as the club & players have any ounce of success.
This must be heartbreaking as a fan to watch. I'd probably give up watching altogether, they were better off in the lower Leagues.

Jose Mourinho wrote:If we pay to a 19-year-old boy what we were being asked for, for Luke Shaw, we are dead,” said Mourinho. “We kill our stability with financial fair play. We kill the stability in our dressing room. Because when you pay that much to a 19-year-old kid — a good player, a fantastic player — but when you pay that amount of money, the next day the players knock on the club’s door and say, 'How is it possible I play for this club 200 games and won this and that; how come a 19-year-old comes here and gets more money than I get?’ It would kill immediately our balance and we don’t allow that

Re: RIP Southampton
Southampton will have plenty of cash available from all their sales for adequate replacements. Plus they've already signed a few decent players. Not to mention they're always developing players of their own. They'll be ok imo.

Re: RIP Southampton
I think Koeman will use the money well. Southampton have sold their key core, but maybe Koeman wants to build his own team. And he has the money for it. I would be worried if they only bring one or two more players in but a month is still to go. If they can get 4 players to Koeman's liking and they click then they can still have a decent enough season to finish top 12.
They are short on time though, with most of pre season already over.

Re: RIP Southampton
I'll be surprised if he spent anywhere near half of it lol.
Anyway after this it got me to thinking about the uproar if we did this after finishing 5th lol.
What they doing is basically the equivalent of us selling Ba, Cisse, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Krul, Cabaye and Coloccini in one summer lmao.
They should be disgusted with themselves.
