Re: Ribery's revenge
oh, and by the way Zealous, we are "ridiculously stacked" now?
Ronaldo, Bale and Isco alone cost more than our whole squad. Every top team's squad, Manchester Utd and Arsenal included, cost more than our squad.
Get that into your *bleep*-ing heads.
And yes, Goal Legacy Gunners, you heard right, YOUR SQUAD COST MORE than our squad.
So don't even start whining after we've kicked you out in march.
The shit one has to put up with on here.. unbelievable..

When did Barca's and Dortmund's squads cost more than Bayern's?

about the award thing not really, sportsczy, but a Real supporter calling us 'ridiculously stacked' is a bit too much.

Re: Ribery's revenge
well you should take it as a compliment, Bayern do have a very talented squad even in the bench.
but Madrid shouldn't use that as an excuse when you consider how much money they insert into their team.

he didn't mean it as a compliment but as a reason why Ribery's performance is not to be appreciated.

Re: Ribery's revenge
Madrid fans (and haters) act like Ronaldo didn't dominate the English Premier League before he left for Spain. 3 League titles on the trot, 2 CL finals, winning 1 of them including a goal in the final.
That's in a much tougher League than the pathetic Bundesliga.
I keep hearing about Ribery's mythical team play that magically wins anything he touches trophies and titles but what has he done for France since Zidane retired? Answer me that question if he's so brilliant and such a generational talent.

last time I checked the award was given for a certain year and not for a generation, so I'll not bother answering that stupid question.

That's because Ribery had by far the least impactful run in the CL last season by any star player in recent memory. In fact that's probably what ended up costing him at the end of the day. How can you give it to someone who got outperformed by about 6/7 players on his own team in the biggest club competition in football? Muller, Robben, Kroos, Schweini, Martinez, Alaba and Lahm clearly had more impressive campaigns than Ribery last year. That's just the simple fact.
Ribery was simply along for the ride last year. Replace him with Shaqiri and Bayern probably still win the damn thing. Struggling to think of a single stand out performance he had in the knockout stages where the entire world is watching not against Freiburg and Hannover.

Re: Ribery's revenge
First and foremost, we had Domenech as the manager until 2010. 'Nuf said there.
Since 2010, Ribery has taken over the team slowly but surely. Given his unpopularity, he had to earn it... and he has. I thought it would be impossible, but kudos to him. France NT experienced a down cycle in terms of talent from 2009 until now. Only with the emergence of the kids like Varane, Pogba and soon Griezmann, etc, r u seeing the squad get a lot of quality new blood as opposed to a player here and thre... through all this, Ribery has been absolutely carrying the team. Made the 2012 Euro quarters with the worst France midfield i have ever seen. Qualified for the WC despite being in the same group as Spain only because Ribery played immensely.
So yeah, he's important to NT He's the undisputed leader on the pitch for the players and, to everyone's general surprise, the media and fans too.

Gil, don't take it the wrong way but I won't answer to your answers in the future, simply because there's too much utter nonsense in every sentence of yours, and it's to much work to deal with that, even more so as it's not going to be constructive anyway.

Re: Ribery's revenge
I agree Ribery has been very impressive for the National team since the Euros ended. He actually looks like the leader of the team and the true star player. Still, that doesn't excuse his poor EURO 2012 performances. He did absolutely nothing in that tournament and that's coming from someone who thought he was going to dominate that competition after a heartbreaking CL final loss.sportsczy wrote:First and foremost, we had Domenech as the manager until 2010. If we're strictly talking talent then Ribery is in a great situation this upcoming WC. Not many NT's are better on paper than France, lets see if Ribery really is the influential leader you describe him as and delivers in the summer.

yeah, why not, still yours cost you more.
The difference is minimal, that's true, but you get my point right?
You get why I'm annoyed when people call us 'Buyern' and pretend we have such a stacked and luxury squad that is is indulgence if we sign a new striker for free etc. pp., and pretend as if we're favourites to win stuff by default?

Re: Ribery's revenge
People don't call you Buyern because you purchase players, it's because you bully your rivals into giving up their best players to you. Arsenal don't have the power to do that, in fact they're often on the receiving end (Van Persie, Cesc, etc).

how exactly does that bullying look? And how did Arsenal get bullied into selling Fabregas and Van Persie? They both had valid contracts, and I don't think Barca/Utd sent armed henchmen to force these transfers...

Re: Ribery's revenge
I dont know how Arsenal squad cost more than Bayern? before Özil our most expensive signing was Arshivan around 15m if I am not mistaken.
Every year we were at the bottom of the league in spending on players, even stoke spent more than us.
As for ScareFace and Bayern getting revenge on Ronaldo? they just have to wait another year, its Arsenal time to get revenge on Bayern.
There wont be Vemaelen on the LB to allow Bayern have their way and get easy goals.
