Mario Götze vs Mesut Özil

I take Mario Götze. He's already starting to surpass him. He's a better scorer and much more active more constantly in games. Also contributes more defensively. Other than the occasional out of this world pass I don't see how Özil is better at all that much. Mario also has an edge with regards to ball control.

Sorry, Özil, I really like you as a player, but unless Löw decides to go the false 9 route with Götze, I hope you land on the bench in the foreseeable future.

Götze is already starting to surpass him and has a higher ceiling, IMO.

Just to clarify, I want them both in Germany's line up because they're both too talented to drop for an inferior player, even if it's a true striker. Drop either of them for Gomez, Klose, or Kruse? Hell no. I'm just saying that I'd prefer Mario if I had to choose one or the other at CAM. This is not a Mesut hate thread. He's one of my favorite players. Smile

Different players who I believe could actually play together as they compliment their abilities. Gotze is the better player imho, however in a 4-2-3-1 system I'd take Ozil as a CAM as I rate his passing and overall vision better

atm i'd still take özil over götze, but i usually wouldn't wanna compare the two. kroos vs. özil would probably be a more meaningful comparison. i'm just gonna compare them based on their qualities as a lone CAM.

no other 10 in the world has özil's vision/passing ability and that should be on top of the requirements list for that position. özil glides past tackles without many fancy dribblings because that works perfectly fine for him and his team. that's also a form of "ball control" - the man has crazy technical abilities. therefore i think it might be a bit far fetched to say götze has an edge over him in that regard. götze is more direct but by doing that he also loses the ball more often than özil. his finishing might be a bit better than mesut's but he surely isn't a goalgetter either. that's the area they both need improvement in.

other than that özil has performed in 3 leagues already and is clearly germany's most important offensive player these days. at the moment he is just more accomplished, surely because he is older - but that's just how it is.
