Modric isn't even their best player.

It's not like they would play better without him though...urbaNRoots wrote:Modric isn't even their best player.

They wouldn't be worse either, which is what Donuts was implying.

Come on they'd be worse, how much worse is very debatable yes, but he can contribute a lot to Croatia and I'm pretty sure he is a guaranteed starter.urbaNRoots wrote:They wouldn't be worse either, which is what Donuts was implying.

Re: Predict the World Cup progression/results
Always surprises in WC, especially when it's on another continent than Europe.Zealous wrote:Way too early for predictions lads. One or two untimely injuries could change the whole perception of certain groups.
Not gonna lie though, a part of me does feel like the overwhelming majority of what can be considered the top teams will make the last 16 this year.
Here's the big thing to keep in mind: EPL teams play 80 games a season with all the BS cups, Europe and League. There's no winter break. Players in that league are at a disadvantage.
Bundi ends its season in early May... so players in that league are at an advantage.
Any player that is on a CL finalist team is going to be very tired. Same goes for cup finals.
A lot of it has to do with health, physical freshness and form.
A significant reason that German NTs tend to do well in these summer tournaments is that they get sufficient rest going into it. I also feel it's a significant reason that England NT teams do poorly.

That title belongs to Chile, who for some reason people think are on Netherlands level.Natalie Portman wrote:Nigeria are the most overrated team on GL. They won't get a single point. Quote me on that

Re: Predict the World Cup progression/results
Nigeria has a lot of young inexperienced players. they are rebuilding for the bottom .. for once. Their inexperience's might cost them but i think they can't do worse than in 2010.Natalie Portman wrote:I know man.Pedram wrote:Nigeria is so overrated on GL, personally think Bosnia has more chance of qualifying.

Re: Predict the World Cup progression/results
Group A: Brazil, Cameroon, Mexico, Croatia
I am very glad to have avoided Croatia, our Pet Hate in all sports, 0 victories in the football
Group B: Spain, Chile, Australia, Netherlands
I hope will play De Jong !
Group C: Colombia, Ivory Coast, Japan, Greece
I had totally removed that Zaccheroni was the coach of Japan, I do not know why I thought he was Qeiroz lol, will be the alcohol
it's better so, it will not be boring to see to play Japan , this national fits with his idea of the game , it reminds me at times Udinese 1997-1998 .. in confederations cup he was unlucky, I have no problems to say it, Japan deserved to win against Italy, it dominated..
Group D: Uruguay, Italy, Costa Rica, England
Italian media are crying (and much) for the group draw considering it difficult ... but I am enough satisfied considering Italy wasn't seeded , Uruguay and England are in a generational replacement, a transition period ( probably it was better if Hodgson began to build the future with Jones, Shaw, Barkley, Ward-Prowse, Sturridge etc etc imo... England has very interesting young players) and so both have a battered squad ,
probably it s a good time to meet them . Never underrating noone anyway, I remember 2010
Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, Honduras, France
lol
Group F: Argentina, Nigeria, Iran, Bosnia-Herzegovina
Bosnia most underrated national of WC, I think will be 2nd safely. after Italy I support for Argentina,
so I hope they will go ahead without worries
Group G: Germany, Ghana, U.S.A, Portugal
USA has a good record with Portugal ( 2002) and on the contrary they don't have a happy memory about Ghana . This national will tip the balance, National always tricky to meet.
I will support Jurgen Klinsmann , a GOAT.
Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Korea Republic, Russia
Capello again against Algeria, he will succeed in the enterprise to tie even this time ??

Re: Predict the World Cup progression/results
Playing in South America is going to be a massive shock to the system for a lot of the European teams and a massive bonus for the Central and South American teams. There will be a ton of shock results IMO. re are my unconventional picks at this point in time.

Cameroon > Brazil, Mexico
Brazil
Spain

Ghana
Belgium
Russia > Belgium, Russia
Korea
Algeria
I know, I know. Let me explain the Germany prediction. I know a lot of people probably ignored the result but we (USA) beat Germany this year.
Yes it was a friendly but we usually play them very tough and I don't think we beat them but I think we match up very well with them with our coach, some German players and playing in South America and they do not come out of that game with full points.
So with dropping points to the USA and IMO Spain flat out beats them they don't make it out of the group. IMO, this is a very bad group match-up wise for Germany. There are a lot of things under the radar going against them.
And I'm part German so no, I'm not hating on them.
