This time next year Raheem Sterling will be considered an expensive flop.

Not only a popular opinion imo, but also something I think many people are hoping for. Maybe I'm limited because most of my discussion about football comes from this forum, but support for Raheem is more rare than those wishing he fails in this place.

On the other hand, if this could be construed an unpopular opinion, I think that Raheem will, eventually, be looked at as a pretty good buy for Manchester City.

I believe the general consensus in the wider (English) football world is that Sterling is already a very good player and can still develop quite a bit. There seems to be a bit of a lull right now in regards to how people rate him. His first season at City, it feels everyone's just waiting to see what happens. I haven't spotted much talk at all about him, not on here nor elsewhere. Actually here there's been a real lack of opinion on him, imo. My opinion on him probably isn't hugely unpopular, but I'd say it's more on the unpopular side than on the popular side.

It's as if it is universal fact that Figo was better than Nedved. In fact they are on par with Pires a level below.

Agreed. People tend to get romantic about Baggio because of his flair and natural talent (and the fact that coaches mistreated him too) but when it comes to effectiveness Totti is obviously better. As a fan i'd choose Baggio a 100 time over Totti, but that's only because the latter is a douche, but if i'm a coach and i can only choose one of them it's Totti hands down.
