If this doesn't happen there will be a deep, dark hole inside of me which cannot be fulfilled by any living being.

If it's not available on current gen (most likely) then this will probably be the stimulus I will get to buy the PS4.

personally Red Dead Redemption is my favourite Rockstar game of all time. Like it more than any GTA. Fits the time frame so I'm sure it's that if it comes out in 2015.

Hopefully something that normal people, who dont like the console fetish, can play it on a PC.

Question is, how would they truly expand upon Red Dead? The Western world was expanded upon in near perfect spectrum without it having further propensity to be advanced upon, considering the Old West landscape doesn't have much upon it, unlike the Grand Theft Auto cities.

I love RDR as is to this day Rockstar's jewel (even above GTA V) yet what does the game not have that can be worked on?

You might say a better engine, better graphics, new implementations, varied gameplay and story and revolution to the mechanics. Yet what can they truly tangibly expand on. GTA IV came out and we wanted more, RDR left us wanting to continue within its world. It was near perfection.

Should be called Red Dead Revolution btw.

Interesting point Arq. But wouldn't the same apply to the GTA series as well?

Rockstar had said that GTA Cities would always be created around cities in the US so that eliminates the possibility of different landscapes. And having already created an 'all-in-one' experience, I think they might have to become more creative than ever for the next installment.

Random thought, wouldn't it be awesome to have an open world Samurai game?

I agree, did some research and the last big project Rockstar New England did was Bully.

Also Arq is right its difficult to take the Red Dead lore further because of how limited of a timespan the Wild West genre was..... its not like other periods of history that went on for decades i trust Rockstar to make something of it if they go down that route though.

Maybe a prequel of some sort during the height of the American Frontier rather than the end?

It most likely is Red Dead. Rockstar more or less confirmed it is in development during a GTA 5 Q/A. Regarding Bully 2, Rockstar said they would love to do a sequel to Bully since they loved it, fans loved it and it was a commercial success but confirmed it is not under development currently.

Small chance of it being Chicago Noire, the rumoured sequel to LA Noire. The Noire series is not exactly a famous franchise yet.

Red Dead Redemption was set during the dying days of the Wild West, just three years before World War I. The next one could be set during the golden age of the Wild West. Could take a leaf out of GTA V and give emphasis on heists. Full on train robberies, bank robberies, ransoming rich people, stuff like that. And they could expand the wonderful sandbox of Red Dead Redemption by adding horse races, wagon races, drinking games etc. I have complete faith on Rockstar, they never disappointed me.

Anyway i agree with all what your saying personally the potential in the wild west a little like with AC4 and the pirates theme is absolutely massive and has been relatively untapped despite RDR's greatness.

Yeah not enough pirate driven games tbh, and i've said it for ages. It's so surprising tbh the setting makes itsself.

You're on ships sailing to different lands. Having ship battles, looting places and all that. How there's been like no serious game with a pirate theme in about 4 trillion years is beyond me. Of course ACIV are doing it now though.
