Newcastle v Liverpool
So, Newcastle have scored at least twice in their last five games (four PL, one League Cup). So playing them at St James's should be tricky.
I don't know what's the latest on our injured players Johnson, Coutinho, Cissokho... Luckily we seem to have come off the int break in full fitness.
Mignolet
Toure - Skrtel - Agger
Ibe - Henderson - Gerrard - Enrique
Moses
Sturridge - Suarez

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
Why Ibe?
He has no experience as a winger in the PL forget RWB
Lucas will make his comeback. Though i was satisfied with Hendo last game week.
If Hendo does play RWB, He will be targeted as usual. That wing has been a problem with Sterling and Hendo, Hopefully Glen can make that side more solid.
"Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini is sidelined by a muscle injury, while winger Jonas Gutierrez is ruled out because of personal reasons". They'll go with Mbiwa-Williamson CB partnership. This will be a difficult match.

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
Sterling was played as wing-back in our last game, but I tend to think Ibe is better defensively, so following that logic, if Rodgers is willing to try out Raheem there, then why not Ibe, too. Besides the lad deserves some game time already.

Alright fellas, good news is that Allen, Johnson, and Cissokho are all fit for Newcastle. Coutinho is the only that's going to be waiting a bit longer.
Here's what I hope BR goes with
Bench: Jones, Allen, Cissokho, Skrtel, Sterling, Aspas, Moses

Cheers, buddy. I hope you get rid of Pardew soon, his tactics were hopeless against us. I mean, to lose 0 - 6 at home like that, surely his time's up.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Congrats on the win guys.

I know mate, that's 2 games running that he's losing 6-0 at home to us. Pardiola is hopeless and sadly the 8 year contract still has another 6.5 years. Mole stay strong.Art Morte wrote:Cheers, buddy. But in all seriousness I'm a bit worried about Remy and Ben Arfa. Hatem against Enrique is going to be a little scary specially now that Jose is a wing back and leaves even more space behind, hoping for Sakho to tackle Ben Arfa hard at the start of the game to scare him a bit from going on his mazy runs. Remy on the other can score long ranged shots like they are tap ins and we love to concede long shots all day, glad it's Simon and not Pepe in goal.
Otherwise without Coloccini for them, I like our chances in attack.

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
The best way to avenge will be liverpool-castle ending like 1-0 OR 2-1 OR 3-2Prdew in an interview wrote:"It was one of my worst days as Newcastle boss, for sure. It's happened to bigger and better managers than me though - Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, they've all had those days, too," said Pardew.
"If there isn't an extra bit of fire in the bellies of some of our players this weekend, then there'll be something wrong.
"There'll be quite a few players playing who played on that day, and I'd be disappointed if they don't respond. That's what you like to see.
"I certainly want to get a result more than in most games that we play."

Suarez -- Sturrdige
we will see this most likely. Toure - Skrtel - Sakho
Hendo - Gerrard - Lucas - Enrique
Moses
Suarez -- Sturrdige
Sub:Jones, Allen, Johnson, Sterling, Aspas, Aly, Agger
Hendo as RWB only if Johnson is not fit enough to play the hole 90 min. I think we can bring Johnson for last 30 min. And I think if we do score like 2 or 3 goals in first half, we may see Allen coming in for Moses and Hendo going central if we start loosing control of the match

Yes its true that we have individuals which can win the game but that isn't going to matter.
I just hope we don't lose to Sunderland the following week

If everyone is fit I'd like to see us play that. Think Allen and Henderson would be a good partnership, good tactically, mobile, good in possession. Allow Gerrard push further forward without giving him too much running to do as he has Sturridge and Suarez in front who both work the channels well.

If we're going to rest Gerrard this wouldn't be a bad game to do that, but I don't think we are.

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
@El Jefe, there is no way BR making that many changes to the line up with 3 players barely coming back from injuries. I can only see Glen coming straight back into the line up from the trio that returned from injuries.
As for Gerrard being rested, while it may be a good idea, I'm not really sure BR will consider it. Both of England's matches were in England so Stevie didn't travel much in the last week. He's also had 5 days to recover from the last match, so I think it would be a huge gamble to rest him. We shouldn't take this Newcastle side lightly.

YangaMbiwa-GOATlliamson CB partnership's first ever outing will be tomorrow. Watch them bond like Nesta and Cannavaro

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
I actually have some positive feelings towards that partnership on paper.
Mbiwa is by far our fastest CB and Williamson for all his deficiencies is our best leader by far and unlike Taylor is aware of his weaknesses and won't run around like a raving lunatic leaving gaping holes to exploit.
But i don't think it matters who plays at CB..... our fullbacks will be too expansive and our wide forwards won't do much defensive work and the midfield won't track runners very well so all in all the CBs will be very isolated.

Newcastle gonna win this obviously. They will give their all this time after being whacked 6-0 in our last encounter. Not to mention we bottle up when things are looking positive lol.

If we play Lucas & Gerrard, Newcastle are going to have the middle of the park to themselves. We'll cause problems when we get up attacking, but they'll control the game more than us.

Like it's gone in every game so far this season where we've played the Gerrard-Lucas partnership?McAgger wrote:There is so much wrong with this postArt Morte wrote:If we play Lucas & Gerrard, Newcastle are going to have the middle of the park to themselves. The PL is fast paced, Gerrard and Lucas are not. Skill doesn't matter if you can't get on the ball and Cabaye, Anita and Sissoko are going to outwork a Gerrard-Lucas midfield. It's not necessarily bad if our three CBs deliver and we can break on the counter with out attack-heavy set-up, but it poses problems as well.

I'm not going to go over the same tactical dilemma with the double pivots. Just check the Tactics and Formations thread on why you're wrong in saying we won't be able to control the game because of Gerrard and Lucas.
