Got a nasty feeling that we may falter in this game... Lacking confidence in our midfield and ability to control the game, but hopefully the lads will show how silly of me that is / was.

Come back to me when Tiote stops the best midfield of all time.Natalie Portman wrote:I watched him against Sunderland and West Ham this year and he was god awful in both games.El Jefe wrote:He's twice as good as Tiote. Watch the games against Barca and at home to Juve. Brilliant in all 3. Will be a brilliant DM.

Not sure I agree on the personnel.I've been far from convinced by Aspas's touch and passing in his last few appearances. Moreover, Moses has done nothing to warrant getting dropped. In fact, Coutinho's injury makes his role all the more important. I would bring in Sterling for Coutinho, move Henderson to the center, and keep Moses on the left.
Southampton are likely to come to Anfield to play, not park the bus. Therefore, I'm not as concerned by the lack of a true creative AM, and the pace of Moses and Sterling could very well be of more use against this particular opponent. We would also have a hungry little livewire sitting on the bench should we choose to give Sturridge a little rest in the second half.
To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't mind seeing Alberto get a start at the #10 position. I think he's still a ways off being able to perform the role week-in week-out for us, but a spot start might not be unreasonable, especially coming off his U21 performance from last week. I just keep thinking of Rodgers playing Shelvey at the start of last season. I can't help but think Alberto is at or around that level of preparedness.

Nevermind... looks like I was just a bit too late with my prediction. Not to mention wrong.Fahim89 wrote:LFC team v Southampton: Mignolet, Toure, Sakho, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Henderson, Gerrard, Aspas, Moses, Sturridge.
FOUR CBs!!!!!!!!!!
I'm betting
Kolo - RB
Skrtel - RCB
Sakho - LCB
Agger - LB
Also, is that a true 4-3-3?
Sturridge
Moses-----------Aspas
Gerrard--Hendo
Lucas
Moses-----------Aspas
Gerrard--Hendo

Toure at RB doesn't sound good to me and after the Swansea game I'm not sure if Sakho should play CB before learning our system.
Anyway, 15 minutes to go, let's enjoy the game

HOLY SHIT DAT BACK LINE. What is Brendan play at here?
For some reason I just love the sight of that even though it most likely won't work.

Disjointed in attack. Unconvincing in defense. So far.

Got robbed a penalty, its games like these that look destined for a draw that we need to convert to a win, that will define our season.

Re: Liverpool v. Southampton: 15.00 Saturday 21st September 2013
We very slightly edged the first half. Moses, Sturridge and Henderson have been good. Enrique needs to come on for Sakho at LB, he is offering nothing there.
We look a little uncertain in defence, almost resulting in chances for Soton, but nothing too worrying yet. Let's see if we can keep this up and improve in the second half.

No, I wouldn't say so. We are constantly slightly on top; we have been on the back foot in many games this season. But we need to create better goal-scoring opportunities.McAgger wrote:

Man that was super disappointing. Completely crushes our momentum. If you told me at the beginning of the season which game of the first 5 I think we will definitely win, I would've chosen this one.

Awful performance. Genuinely one of the worst I've seen in years. That game had been coming, another bad performance but this time we didn't get lucky. How can we go from dominating and carving teams open at the end of last season to no chances in a over 2 hours of football? Embarrassing. No fight, nobody taking responsibility. Mignolet our best player AGAIN. Absolute joke, they all need a long hard look at themselves.

Re: Liverpool v. Southampton: 15.00 Saturday 21st September 2013
LOL. don't even know what to say, still waiting on a good performance from us this year. FML games like Swansea and this are going to cost us dearly come end of the season.
FML as if jose wasn't given a start with the lack of any real great attack you would think a attacking LB would be played at home.
Looked at our bench before the game and was thinking, if we needed any threat it was never coming from the bench.
Luckily suarez is back next game, don't know how we would of went this season if we lost him in the summer.

What makes me so angry is the lack of effort, people work for hours to scrape money together so they can go the game. £45 is a lot of money when you work for every penny, and the least they deserve is a bit of commitment. Spineless.

Re: Liverpool v. Southampton: 15.00 Saturday 21st September 2013
Again Liverpool cant create anything and only comes off as dangerous in counter attacks. If you cant create ull never win a game regardless of finishing.
Sakho and skertel were good. Gerrard had a nightmare game in the second half.Henderson offers nothing to attack..nothing much really.Boring game.

Re: Liverpool v. Southampton: 15.00 Saturday 21st September 2013
Preemptive don't panic post:
They scored a fluke goal and had no other chances aside from Shaw's run. Our attack looked disjointed, true, but the midfield was better for most of the game, and here are the reasons why that was true today but won't be very soon:
1. Sturridge is still carrying multiple knocks.
2. Moses in his second game for us ever.
3. No true FBs playing until Enrique came on.
4. Johnson is injured.
5. Coutinho is injured.
That's a lot of reasons right there, and may I remind everyone that SUAREZ IS BACKKKKKK!!!!
We're not league champions this year, we've been having a great laugh with being top of the table but we all know that's not the quality we're at. Fact is, we're going to lose sometimes, and the fact is we're going to lose to bad teams sometimes. We don't need to pick up every point to make the top 4, and in fact we're still on pace for a points total that would do it.
tl;dr: Stop worrying, things are just fine.

I get what your saying stevieg8, we are not even close to full strength right now, but that was the purpose of getting some depth, teams like soto at home should be put away.
If you asked me would i of been happy with 10 points from 5 games before the season, i would of taken it no doubt. But would of thought we would of dropped points to united and WBA/Villa, expectations changed after the first 3 games.
We should of been 5/5.
