What will Bale have to do at Real Madrid so he isn't considered a flop?

He'll have to score a lot of goals. If he scores around 10, 11 etc, it won't be enough. The reason it won't be enough is because anyone would be able to score that many goals at Real Madrid.

If he loses the ball multiple times, especially in big games, then he'll be in trouble.

Bale will have a lot of pressure. Expectations are high.

40 goals?

All he has to do is perform in the big games. Stats don't matter much when you're playing with Ronaldo, he's pretty much in the same boat Neymar is in.

Dont think anyone will care about individual performances if Real don't win La decima.600 Million squad currently and paying that much money over the past 10 years while not winning the CL is ridiculous.

If he managed to score 26 goals in 44 apps in England, I'm pretty sure he will manage to score 30 in La Liga.

So 30 goals and good performances in big games. Titles would help him aswell.

He'll score around 20 league goals, that amount shouldn't be considered a flop for him. If he can improve the team, bow down and assists Ronaldo and net 20 goals I think that'll be fine, but it wouldn't justify his price either.

Also to consider, at Real everything still runs down to Ronaldo. At Spurs Bale was expected to do everything on the scoring end. So his goal tally might go down as I don't see Ronaldo as the sharing type.

La Liga is a joke but he's playing with 2 other established goalscorers and the set pieces and long shots will be taken by CR.

30 goals could happen but I seriously doubt it. In all comps maybe.

goals only matter when they are scored at the right moment. It doesnt matter if he scores the 4th or 5th goal if we are pounding on Osasuna.

Just scoring when it matters in CL and being a big game performer will go a long way.

And it's not about scoring alone, trying to be an all around performer too, defending, trying to assist, making us a bigger threat in general.

and pipe that nonsense down MT, Bale was also brought because he is a great player and he has ways to help our team, specially in the format we currently play in. He has potential enough to rampage that right side of the pitch.

Bale can't really have that underdog mentality though of being one of many top players and thinking to himself scoring a few goals will be enough.

He has to replicate what he did at Spurs. That's what the €100m was paid for.

Otherwise we could have got some cheaper player who would score a few goals and play for Ronaldo.

I feel sorry for the kid. He is a very good player, but not Galacticos level. The price was dictated by the hype, and Perez wanted hype for Real Madrid. Unless he matches or surpasses the performances of Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo this year, which will not happen, he will be deemed a failure.

@inter1lachen, there is a belief in spain that Bale is only at the beginning of his development curve and his prime is way down the line. That's why the money was thrown at him. so it really comes down to how he grows in the next 4 years.

Only Ronaldo is the Galacticos level player on that team, Kaka was when he was bought, the rest are unproven and have never won anything of great significance...
