12 is too many in one transfer window, imo.

Also, there is a scenario at the end of the season when it's going to be 1 of the 15 that are meant to stay that want to leave.

Players like Rafael, Jones and Dea are going to have 2 years left on their contract come this summer, one more bad season and we are in the Rooney situation all over again.

It's actually really important we win our semi-final in the league cup, so we can guarantee at the very least europa league football next season. Winning the europa league next season might be our only chance to regain a CL spot, if we mess up this season.

I'd actually rather we not be in the EL next season and for us to put all our eggs in the basket to ensure we finish in the top 4.

I don't think the EL will be a hindrance, Spurs pretty much played their second string throughout the group stage and qualified with ease. So we'll only really be in it from when the knockouts begin in February, and that's only if we're drawn against a strong side, we might not even have to field a strong side until later on.

We could do this, if we're struggling for the top 4 by February next season, we can go all out for the Europa League. If we're pretty comfortable in the top 4, we can take it less seriously. I just like it because it gives us a good option.

Another thing is, imagine we finish fourth next season, then a team like Everton win the Europa League, meaning we miss out on CL football.

Anyway, this is a bit early from me, we still have 18 games left  Razz

It's a bit scary contemplating playing in the EL. It's such a nuissance of a cup, and I know that sounds arrogant, but United has to be in the CL. United is an elite name. Going to places like Azerbaijan on a Thursday, long travels playing in some wilderness stadiums....aaaagh.

They have got to do whatever it takes to get top 4. So strange having to say that about a team that won the title last season by 11 points..

Disagree with Smalling. He is good enough for United as he has shown in many matches. His problem is injuries and consistency which will come if he goes a season without being constantly injured.

Cleverley is a decent squad player. Shouldn't be a starter but not sure he should be sold either, unless you can get someone better than him who is willing to be on the bench.

Young, Nani and Valencia are all underperforming. Specially Nani since he is capable of far far more. I don't think they fit in Moyes' tactics and his system. Nani isn't playing with heart for whatever reasons. Valencia was never that good and Rooney made him into a far better player than he really was. A bit like Ibra's effect on Boateng and Nocerino. Young will have a lot of suitors since he will be alright for a mid table club or upper mid. United can do better than all 3 but the trouble is getting those players since quality is scarce.

Javier Hernandez. Not sure why Savage wants him out since he hardly ever plays with both RVP n Rooney fit. Welbeck has been in decent form lately so Javier is really 4th choice. You can obviously try and get a different sort of player in oppose to what he brings. But not many players will come in to sit on the bench. The problem however is that both Rooney and RVP(specially) have been constantly injured. It makes it look like United don't have decent backup for them when the problem wouldn't be this extreme if everyone was fit. You hardly get into the situation where both your top strikers are injured.

Moyes is used to have players who are defensively solid in every position. Who are willing to work for full 90 minutes and make it as tight and difficult for opposition as possible. I am not sure he has those type of players at United. And it does appear players like RVP are struggling to adapt to his system. For me, this is United's best 11

-------------------------De Gea-------------------------------
Rafael-------------Jones----------Evans---------------Evra
---------------Carrick-----------Fellaini(b2b)-------------------
Janujaz------------------Rooney-------------------Kagawa(LAM)
-----------------------Van Persie--------------------------------

Both Kagawa and Rooney can interchange. Kagawa isn't playing as a LW but as a LAM, a role he played against us in the PL and was excellent in it. Something like Cazorla does for us or Wilshere. Janujaz looks versatile enough to adapt at RW. Nani on form can play there I suppose. Zaha even.

United should get a new CB, LB, a Winger for either of the side and a player like Lars for midfield. And a future replacement for Carrick.

Spot on, RG.

Apart from Nani for Kagawa. Kagawa doesn't seem to cut it on the left, he's played well there in a few games, but in too many he hasn't done enough. Personally, I thought Kagawa had a good defensive game against Arsenal, but attacking wise he left a lot to be desired. TBF to him, pretty much our whole team sat back after we scored anyway.  Very talented player, I feel bad for him.

As for Nani, I think we should give him a decent run of games (at least 10). He hasn't had that for two seasons. If he disappoints sell him, but at least give him a go. Especially, since we've given him a 5 year contract.

And we can't get two wingers, that would limit Januzaj's opportunities Moyes ffs do something! - Page 6 Xowen10

yes

this is exactly what I too want to see n what I kinda indented in an earlier post. Barring smallling, nani may be.

I am a huge fan of Chicha  Sad But its time I guess. Cos we have no decent winger a player like him who relies on effective wingers is finding it hard. So its better we sell him get the money. Hope he can go to Atletico Madrid ( which again can aid us to land koke ) I guess and thrive there Smile

As his replacement best will be to look into either lingard or henriquez

Valencia OUT, Young OUT ------- as replacement 1 new (good) addition + zaha

cleverly OUT, fellaini OUT, Anderson OUT Giggs Retire --------- again 1 new (really good ) addition + 1 new (young or decent) addition + Powell

Evra OUT/RETIRE, Buttner THROW AWAY, Fabio Apologize and say GOOD BYE ----replaced by ---------(in order of preference) 1.Shaw, 2.Coentrao, 3. Baines

Ferdinand RETIRE

There is nothing about his demeanor that inspires confidence in me that we will get better. I just heard his post match interview and it is the same old stuff we've heard all season.

That's 7 defeats now in the league.....SEVEN! only 1 point ahead of newcastle and 4 ahead of Southampton.

We're talking about last season's champions here. No excuses about our injuries or whatnot, that is very poor.

Such a huge downgrade of circumstances.

May be we shouldnt make into the top 4. So that we can dump this total failure of a manager after that.
This season is gone. Dont want to see another one after we somehow squeeze in to top 4 with him at the helm. I am sure the club will persist with him if he make that possible and the glazers might even hail him as a hero.

p.s
Yep I too joined the vigorously growing minority. A point has indeed been reached where we can say it is incurable if he remain. We have to remove this tumour asap now. This is total feck up. Not playing kagawa today was the extreme. No excuse for such an arrogance. and it kinda nailed the final blow on the coffin as far as my support for the Scot is concerned.
Make some space for my bum on the bandwagon red . Let me too hop in.  drinking

It's a bit of a double edged sword when it comes to qualifying for the CL.

The positive is ofcourse we qualify for the CL.
The negative is Moyes will justify their decision to choose him, and will remain at the club.

With this kind of shet football that we are playing, the almost Leonardo-like crazy team selection, and the almost inevitable f*ck up in the transfer market again, does not justify him staying for all his contract is worth for.

A week ago it seemed he was finally getting it. Then come another bummer.  Mad

He only seems to get it when we beat the scrub teams who we are expected to beat. Play a top half team, of any decent calibre, and his tactics gets exposed.

I'm afraid even if he gets us near relegation spots, we'd still be stuck with him. He's the "chosen one", we have no choice but to accept that this mid table manager will be with us for atleast 3 seasons.

Tbf Milan are doing worse than us but at least they sign players. We sign nobody.

Even the scrub teams do not fear us anymore, I'm afraid. The guy is deluding himself that we are still in for the title race, let alone the top 4 Arsenal trophy.

Its shocking and even hurting to hear united fans in redcafe defending moyes's decision to omit shinji. No wonder the majority there is still supporting him.
 Mad

The bogus explanation that young offers better defensively is simply atrocious. It may be true , but after last week's 2nd half class act it is unforgivable on moyes's part to tamper with the line up/ combo and simply drop him for the next game.

If he had to indeed make the tactic defensive he should have played with 5 defenders , he should have made changes formation wise. What kind of a retarded negative thinking is this. First you deploy a 4 man (LW-CF-RW) attack minded formation.
        |
        AM
and then you try to make the attacking wingers defensive so  much so that you overlook specialist attacking players who can contribute n times more than these sub standard defensive wingers.

Another logic they are putting forth is that Kagawa could have been out-muscled easily by chelsea's defenders.
Lol and you play an equally fragile, 18 year old in the hole.

And these same guys will come back to crticize heavily kagawa when he once again fails in the sunderland game thanks to ripping of his confidence and flow by moyes.

Some on RedCafe say we should give Moyes two years regardless Laughing.

Some of them are totally out of their minds. Honestly I avoid both the Kagawa and Nani threads on that forum, it's like as soon as a player plays badly/injured there's no going back. When it can change e.g. Robben. The amount of them before January that were defending Valancia was unbelievable, almost like they don't watch our matches. The football knowledge by some fans on that forum is absolutely shocking.

As for Kagawa, I actually think he is one of our best players at retrieving the ball, he presses well, intercepts and actually wins more headers then he should. Young doesn't do anything defensively, so he's physically bigger? Fellaini is bigger than Carrick too. Young is decent on the right and atrocious  on the left, but surprise surprise Moyes hasn't learnt that yet.

Absolutely. Kagawa gets most of the stick there. Whenever he performs below the expected level. People rush to express their anger. Its like the tolerance level is far less for him compared to some of our other players, who constantly underperforms and still gets away.
I too stopped going there therefore. Smile

Very very true  Smile

Yea it was evident in some of the games he played. His pressing and off the ball movement to intercept when we were under siege. He might be invisible. But that I guess is because of his short physique. But he is effective considering his built. He goes about doing his business rather quietly.

The main reason he is not getting up near that expected level is again cos of moyes not backing him and fking up with his confidence on a consistent basis by either playing him out of position and on other occasions by subbing him early whenever he looked like really getting into the game and also like this last occasion yesterday. Ironically other shet players usually remain on the pitch even then and complete the 90 minutes . Mad

Also I noted a drastic change in his attitude . He is simply afraid to shoot now.  Sad No doubt his confidence is at rock bottom. He was a sublime finisher , scored many goals, if you remember when he was in Dortmund and also in a few games last season with us, that Norwich game hattick was a testament of his finishing and composure. It was simply beautiful. That composure to tap in and pass in to the back of the net selling dummy to the goalie and all. It was all there. Now gradually, thanks to our manger his skills are all declining.

Carragher is spot on. The 6-7 players needed is an exaggeration, 2-3 top signings in the summer and it will make a massive difference.

He's also right about playing Jones at CB, it's time. I understand why non-united fans have their reservations on Jones, but I think he's going to be an absolutely fantastic CB.
