Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
Vela is now shining, after the torrid time he had at Arsenal he's now getting the minutes he deserves and is continuing on the good form from the last 2 seasons.
And the Vela-Griezmann love in continues

he did not have a bad time at Arsenal
he was just too weak for EPL, the technique was there but boy he could get bullied easily

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
Personally I don't agree with the too weak thing, because the likes of Coutinho, Arshavin, Hernandez, Walcott, Mata etc etc are hardly body builders themselves
Wenger didn't trust him and would play anyone besides Vela in his position i.e Bendtner playing likes two seasons as a RW.
It killed his confidence and he's thriving now because he has the confidence of the manager and is getting games.
Personally I don't believe in that too weak thing in his case, getting barged off the ball by someone bigger than you every now and then does not mean you are too weak for a league imo.

His talent was apparent since he was a teen. One of those few players who made finishing look easy. One of them was Eduardo who I used to think Vela would eventually replace. Sorry both didnt work out for Arsenal.

Carlitos
I can understand Wenger not fully trusting a youngster, however it was dissapointing Vela didnt want to return after a great loan. Still, we're all very glad his doing good at real.
Btw, he's already better than podolski

Tbh I'm not surprised he refused to return as I think he knew nothing would really change. I am happy for him either way regardless of whether he's not at Arsenal or not but I would have loved for him to have gotten the minutes that were wasted on Bendtner

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
You guys forget, Vela had enough opportunities. He was often found drifting abouts doing *bleep* all. Were you expecting him to lead the line?
At one point we had Arshavin leading the line. THe opportunity was there, but he didnt take his chances. No point looking back at it.

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
I disagree, i think he had very few sparse minutes, and they were almost always in 15 minute bursts. No point bringing it up much now anyways.
2 goals today, he's playing better and better every day. Its going to be a real tragedy if he doesn't play the world cup with us.

If he doesn't play a single qualifier he shouldn't play the wc.

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
You do realise in the whole time he was with us he did not start two consecutive games
And he started less than 10 league games for us in however many years he was on our books.
I followed Vela like a hawk from the minute he came through at Arsenal and know for a fact he didn't even get a 10th of the minutes wasted on the likes of Bendtner
And I wasn't expecting him to lead the line, I know he can't do that effectively but he isn't leading the line at Sociedad either....LW/RW goals and assists galore
When you're class you're class

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
Rumors say him and our coach have personal problems or something like that. Vela says he wants to solidify himself with his club first. He's denied playing for the nt for a year or so.Adit wrote:whats da problem?Rebaño Sagrado wrote:If he doesn't play a single qualifier he shouldn't play the wc.

But either way whats done is done, he's showing his quality now and I'm happy for him. It's better he's not at Arsenal.

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
As much as I love Vela I do agree with this, he needs to sort out his issue with the Mexican association and contribute towards the campaign before going to Brazil.Rebaño Sagrado wrote:If he doesn't play a single qualifier he shouldn't play the wc.
I've noticed that with a few of our Ghanaian players retiring and then all of a sudden wanting to play in WC year KPB springs to mind.

While we're Fielding Bendtner I know Wenger put in a buy back option it's time to use it.

He doesn't want to come back. Besides he's had his chances, it's time to move on. Both Bendtner and him, that generation is finally and thankfully (almost) gone.
