Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
Ancelotti's Milan had Ambrosini, Gattuso, Pirlo and Seedorf in the midfield.. how is that weak defensively?

Has nothing to do with the back 4.....S wrote:Carlo's Milan champions league winning side(s) had a top back 4.Just saying.
The midfield of Pirlo-Gattuso-Seedorf-Kaka was very weak defensively and so is this Madrid team.
The defense will get zero cover just like that team did, expecting the likes of Isco, Ozil and Modric to be able to defend to an acceptable standard is delusional.

The 2007 winning team had Ambrosini play regularly. He played many knockout games if i remember correctly.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Has nothing to do with the back 4.....S wrote:Carlo's Milan champions league winning side(s) had a top back 4.Just saying.

Infact i remember even Ambrosini captained the side against Man United at the San Siro.

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
Since I was interested myself, I found a graphic of Spurs spend this summer and last and I'd be willing to post if anyone is interested. Spurs have a net spend of -35 million pounds this summer. If you add the surplus from last summer (about 10 million pounds after Holtby and Zeki fryers being bought in January), the the net spend is about -25 million pounds. Minus 3 million pounds for a GDS sell on clause, Spurs have spent roughly 22 million pounds and so are -22 million net this summer.
80 pounds to be received for Bale minus 22 million, Spurs should have 58 million pounds to spend to break even if we take the last two summers into account.
I've been on both sides of the selling Bale debate myself, but I think selling Bale is best for the club.
As for whether it helps Madrid (something I'd obviously be concerned with), I'm not convinced he's going to be a star at Madrid. I'm not convinced he's the player they need, and I think they're spending silly money on a player who could disrupt squad harmony not by his attitude but by his simple presence. That being said, he is a game winner.

And Seedorf was playing higher up in the 4-3-2-1
It was Pirlo-Ambrosini-Gattuso-Kaka-Seedorf-Pippo in a 4-3-2-1 if i remember correctly.

I think they already have but are waiting to get the replacements before they make it official
as usual Perez waits for the other team to finish their business before he gets his and grossly overpays to get them. Carlo anyone
so annoying that man, would do anything for other teams to like him

PSG: you want Carlo? let us find a replacement first

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
clubs??
this is Perez wanting himself too look like a saint in other teams eyes, all the while having not an umpth of consideration what that might do to our preparation/team chemistry. i know he doesn't want to burn bridges but for the amount he is going for the least Perez should do is bring him in before preseason started so he can actually train with us before the season starts instead of doing a Modric and not train during preseaso ontop of that will have the pressure of being worlds most expensive player. colour me unimpressed

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
lol, perez doesnt decide when the player he wants to sign arrive, the selling clubs do. For reasons that escape the both of us, negotiations can take as long as 2 months in some cases. You think Ancelotti and Perez wouldnt have rather signed him earlier? or that AVB wouldnt have wanted all this to be sorted out earlier so that he can prepare his team? This is not perez saying, oh let's wait the very last day of the transfer market to sign him...halamadrid2 wrote:clubs??

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
I can't believe Madrid are actually doing this. You could argue he'd be worth that amount if he had repeated last season for 2-3 years. But as it stands, he is currently just a hot prospect but one with high risk. No doubt he's a great player having finished a superb season but spending €100+ million for a player who is nowhere as good as Cristiano, nor as profitable is plain stupid and I think it is all down to the obsession of the Madrid president with him and pushing for the tenth Champions League trophy.
I don't really see this Welshman having a career proportional to his price tag in La Liga. He is made for EPL and had Mourinho stayed, I would have given him more chance to succeed at a Madrid team that played more of an English game than Spanish.

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
We better win La Decima this year or the next, if not then there should be protests at the steps of the Bernabeu! Massive uproar I tell ya!
Bale better pick up a Ballon D'or while he's here for good measure

I have no beef with Bale if he comes, none whatsoever. It's Perez and upper management who would get all my blame if such a thing does not pan out...

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
If bale does make it, the pressure to perform may just bee too much for someone who is yet to be exposed to regular CL football.
The fans at the Bernabeu are not too patient either..

Coentrao couldn't agree a deal with Tottenham, so Real Madrid will pay €109m, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
