can't take a piss without it hitting some excellent young Belgian these days ffs it's not fair

Keep your eye on Monaco's young LB Kurzawa too... the kid can really play. He's been great the first 2 games too...
Frankly, Ranieri is playing a very sexy style.

What? Inigo and MIkel is a great partnership, and both fb's are had workers. I have no idea what your on about La Real's defense is definitely solid lol. When healthy of course.halamadrid2 wrote:Rebaño Sagrado wrote:Yeah La Real is usually solid in defense.
LaReals defence has never really been any good. one reason for their horrendous start to the season. They started conceding less but their defence is still the same. If they are to go through against Lyon they are going to have to win it on aggregate by scoring alot more than they concede. not overly optimistic especially now will Illaramendi gone

Carvalho would worry me going forward though, clearly at fault for the goal and he doesn't look like the calming influence he was.

There's Isimat-Mirin on the bench in case Carvalho is poor.
Surprising depth for Monaco. I thought they had a thin squad and it's really not the case.

Romero will start for Monaco, right?
He's been a wall these past two years, he will get the credit he deserves with this team if he can keep up his performances. His only weakness is catching corners/free kicks.

That Mexican goalkeeper Ochoa just put on the best goalkeeping display I've ever seen. You need to watch the match to believe it.
Shame that c**t Cavani took away his clean sheet.

Can some frenchies explain what has happened to Lyon?
How can they be a such dominant force(2002-2010), and now just a mediocre european side who cant beat Sociedad?

Maybe Sociedad is a good team???
You know they did qualify to be in the tournament to face Lyon just like Lyon did, they aren't a charity case they are there on merit from a better league I may add.
And Lyon isn't a "mediocre European side" this was the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

They beat Nice (who lost to gawd know who in Europa qualifying and are still missing 6 starters due to injury) and Sochaux (who barely avoided relegation and are worse still lol)... that start was fool's gold. Lyon's defense is crap.

Re: Ligue 1 Discussion 13/14
I dont know if people realize this but Monaco are building a super side. Their football is already amazingly fluid for an articificial team, and they are going straight for the title. Every thing about them is solid, and they all play selflessly, which is a big difference with regards to PSG. Thy are not looking to play Falcao everytime, who in turn is very generous in the way he works and play for them. Moutinho is coming back and showing how he will dominate teams from the middle, as he did vs Marseille.
Ranieri is silently building a very very good team.

They are playing worse, but they are overpowering teams with their talent. first game against a decent side and they will get exposed everywhere. Blanc is positively lost, but when i look at how carlo struggled with the same issues, cant help but think it's Ibra creating all those problems for PSG

Re: Ligue 1 Discussion 13/14
Not due to their nationality, but i think that both Lavezzi and Pastore are a huge problem for PSG.Pastore simply doesnt play centrally which is his best role, and when he does he is crap.Lavezzi also is a odd player when it comes to the formation.Blanc should just stick to a formation he finds ideal and build a team around Ibra and Cavani asap.
I also have a feeling the dressing room isnt in sync with Blanc. At least compared to Carlo

Re: Ligue 1 Discussion 13/14
Zlatan is not the problem. With or without Zlatan, Carlo's PSG remained the same as the problem was led from a substantiated dissemblance from their central midfield & defence. Their fullbacks paltry, their midfield lacking balance. Yet there was purpose and deliberation in Carlo's PSG as Blanc's truly looks sterile at the moment and relies a lot on Ibra's magic to create for others.
Lavezzi a different story as he isn't being used properly at all.
There IS difference.
Now with Ibra's new role in PSG in acting a pure supplier rendering movement from even deeper and providing goals on a platter for Cavani, problems need to be addressed elsewhere.
Some movement would help. Especially movement into the right places.

Re: Ligue 1 Discussion 13/14
How do you think Lavezzi should be used.
I think when PSG are playing with Motta and Matuidi, that's their best midfield. But then ahead of them, Pastore is doing a terrible job. I would like to see Verratti in a more advanced role.

Lavezzi is literally being used like Menez or just a winger, same mistake made with him for Argentina.Mr Nick09 wrote:How do you think Lavezzi should be used.

In Napoli, when he was literally their best player ahead of Cavani & Hamsik, he was given interchangeable freedom with Cavani & Hamsik on will. Allowed license to drift into and outside the box. Considering his limits out wide, he is only forced to cut in or make off-ball runs into the box.
Lavezzi is a playmaker, not a forward or winger. His job in Napoli involved just that alongside Hamsik as that license of freedom was the reason behind his pricetag.
If used properly, outside Messi he is easily Argentina's best player.
Midfield? Motta-Matudi is correct yet the problem is is the complete lack of urgency and transition within. Countering isn't an option. Motta and Matudi face incongruence in their role unless one advances while the other anchors. Doesn't help that the fullbacks outside a space-exploiting Jallet are sterile in attack despite their pace.
It just looks disjointed and movement doesn't seem to be a priority.
Verrati? Originally he was a #10 as he works better in tighter areas. Placing him deep is similar to placing Isco deep despite Verrati's success in his role. His discipline is lacking deep, dribbles into dangerous areas and needs to stop making the same tactical mistakes. Too quickly he was attempted to evolve deeper.

Re: Ligue 1 Discussion 13/14
I actually agree with Arq, I watched a lot of Napoli with Lavezzi-Hamsik-Cavani trio and Lavezzi was never a winger or a forward. In fact both Hamsik and Lavezzi were given free roles to do and go wherever they pleased. Which is what made them so deadly. Free license to roam is what Lavezzi needs, but I just don't see how that'll work with Ibra also playing.
