Re: Ligue 1 18/19
So most goals scored on an opening day in 40 years... 32 goals.
There really is a top 4 now and everyone else. Well PSG, then OM / Lyon / Monaco, and then everyone else.
Caen is a disgrace. They have a Ligue 2 team playing in Ligue 1.

Doc's Ligue 1 watch:
Only took in the Lyon and PSG game and both were decent. Feel like pointing out that while I knew PSG would beat Caen, this Samba keeper they have made it even easier for them. This Weah kid isn't that bad, thought it was just preseason form but he may actually turn out to be a good player to call off the bench ever so often. Glad to see Depay still performing nicely.
That's it, nothing really much to mention other than what I wrote.

Can't wait for DOC to take over the GL weather thread:
put some heart into it ffs, @sports didn't spend years hyping everything French for you to disgrace his legacy with three measly sentences

In my defense, this ain't the PL or La Liga where my heart is split in two for those 2 beautiful leagues. And it ain't Serie A where my degree is needed to understand the tactical nuances of Italian football.
It's the French league where I barely know anyone. Ease me up, it's my first day on the job.

@Doc. Watch Monaco. That's the team that buys the best kids all across Europe and then brings them up to the first team. For prospecting, there isn't better.
Not to mention they have guys like Falcao, Golovin, Ronnie Lopes, Sidibe, Tielemans, Glick, Subasic, etc. So there's quality there anyhow besides the kids.

After sacking Gus Poyet, Bordeaux want to appoint Thierry Henry as the club's new head coach. (Source: L'Equipe)

Bordeaux is a terrible club to go to. He'll be out in 6 months if he goes there.

So they sacked the coach? Last I read he got into trouble for saying out loud that the club shouldn't have sold some player
Way to go.

except the player's agent said that the manager was the one who asked the player to leave... so it's hard to believe him. Bordeaux is getting sold to an American venture fund. Going there now would be foolish until the sale is final.

Re: Ligue 1 18/19
Correction | Mr N'Zigou previously claimed to be 34, but believes he is roughly 5 years older. Born in October, so could either be 39 or 40.

It's good that he corrected that part
Wouldn't want to make any mistake about whether he's 39 or 40

Doc's Ligue 1 watch:
Due to my cousin's birthday being on a weekend, only watched 1 game. Truth be told, it was gonna be one game anyway.
Nimes vs Marseille. First off, didn't realise Rami was at Marseille and I must say, he is still the dunce defender I remember him at Valencia and Sevilla. Marseille played this match like a team that went on a night of drinking before (like me) and didn't really think Nimes' players were gonna give them much issues.
Turns out, they did. 2 outta 3 goals came from nice counters. The 2nd one was comical too. Can't remember who the two numpty brothers were but one fell and the other hit the ball on the one who fell. Marseille, to me, didn't do much with the ball bar their goal. Nice ball from Payet (who had a mediocre match) to Sanson(?) who squared it to Thauvin who had a nice match.
Anyway, if Sports comes and say Marseille were unlucky, they weren't. They just played poorly.

@Doc
Thanks for the review. When I checked the scores, I wondered who/what the hell is a Nimes. You summed it up nicely.

OM is what Juve used to be... where former good players come to spend their golden years lol. Except, none of them rejuvenate when they come over.
Rami is shit.

So far it seems Mbappe is outshining Neymar. Scored another cracker yesterday.

As for Mbappé, what a player. A gift to football fans.

Re: Ligue 1 18/19
Tuchel is trying all sorts of things.
1st half last week... classic 433
2nd half.... 4231 with Neymar as the 10 and Mbappe as the CF. Wide players were Nkunku and Di Maria
1st half this week... 352 with the new German kid, Silva and Kimpembe. Marquinhos as the DM. Di Maria playing the left wingback.
2nd half... back to 4231 with Neymar as the 10, Cavani CF, Mbappe right and Di Maria left
Rabiot has been the best player on the pitch for PSG. Just immense. Mbappe would get the nod over him; but he's only played a game and a half. Rabiot has killed it for 3 games now.
Neymar is up and down. Brilliance and disappearing acts. Stats are better than he's played.
