GdS - Conte will return the 4-3-3

After the defeats on American soil with Everton and Galaxy, Antonio Conte would be thinking of a change of form to reverse the dangerous trend that saw Juventus lose almost always during this preseason. According to reports this morning from the "Gazzetta dello Sport", the Juventus coach would have in mind a return to a 4-3-3 formation, with the inclusion of Vucinic in attack, so that should be to support Carlitos Tevez to support Fernando Llorente. The sacrifice in this case would Kwadwo Asamoah, whose place on the left hand lane would be occupied by Giorgio Chiellini, brought back to left-back, with Bonucci and Barzagli in the middle and Lichtsteiner on the right.

I'd hate to see Chiellini waste away at LB and steadily lose his ability to play CB

I'd rather drop one of the other 2 and play Ogbonna at LB.

I don't think that this is happening. Marrota already said that he will sell 2 strikers. We will lack depth in that case if 3 strikers will be used.

Yeah it's not the formation I dislike or anything, it's purely about having Chiellini played in a position he's uncomfortable with

So instead of a WC CB we'll have a decent LB who steadily declines at CB due to lack of game time there.

Ogbonna for LB! Chiello for CB and Bon/Barz to partner him

if we get Kolarov though i could happen

but I fear for Caceres, why we wasting such a quality CB....

whichever way I doubt this formation will happen tbh...

might happen within games but can't see us start with it unless we have a defense injury crisis....

I don't see it happening. I don't think Juve looked any better with the 4-3-3 than they did with the 3-5-2. The team will look better in a real competition. The players weren't even trying during the past two games. They better wake up quickly and sell Matri. He looked awful.

I agree. Llorente has always worried since the day we were rumored to be signing him. I didn't understand the hype everyone was giving him, but I shut my mouth because everyone seemed to be excited about him. Hopefully, he proves me wrong, but I don't think he is the answer to the CF position we have been looking for all of these years. I don't think we can even think about selling Vucinic because of his performances.

Chiellini has the same defensive capabilities playing in LB and CB.......what u guys are saying is just nonsense.....

I don't care what player it is, if you spend an entire season playing out of position, and then go back to your original position. You're going to be rusty and less effective.


Think about it, his daily training will be different, everything he does in preperation will be as a left-back, he will become less and less capable at CB the longer we thrust him out to the left.

You don't take a top level player in his prime and try to re-invent him.

It's a completely different role with a different set of responsibilities. He can perform there just fine but he is better suited to the center in my opinion. It's not nonsense, there are plenty of examples of Chiellini not doing as well as a left back compared to a central defender. Do you see Chiellini as a left sided Lichtsteiner? No. And that's what Juventus needs.

the only thing i believe Chiellini will not resolve our problems is when going forward to attack, i mean he's no dani alves, but personally, i prefer having one defensive minded fullback and another attacking minded one...

He was never really an attacking fullback... and there's a reason he looks a lot better in the center than on the right, it's because he is better suited there.

Ramos was a full-back, and was converted to CB because it suited him better. Just like Chiellini was.

But that's not the point, nobody is saying players can't change positions. But Chiellini is better at CB than LB, it'd be like converting Ramos AGAIN. It makes no sense.

And in doing so, you're creating instability. And if Chiellini was moved to LB long-term, and we wanted him back as a CB in a year or so, then he'd undoubtedly be a much less effective CB than he is now. So we'd be taking a top CB and diminishing his abilities just so we can use him in a position he, himself has stated that he doesn't like compared to CB.

when i said attacking fullback is that he ventured into the attacking plays going forward and dully succeeded.

I would play Chiellini at LB any day if deemed necessary, obviously ive stated we need a quality LB....
