General Motors deal Empty General Motors deal

Post by Vlad the Impaler Sat Aug 03, 2013 3:46 pm

I know that we signed this deal last year but I didn't know the numbers.

Manchester United’s new sponsorship deal with General Motors’ Chevrolet brand will be worth almost $80m a year, more than double the £19.6m insurer Aon is now paying to have its brand on the team’s shirts.

Top 5 largest sponsorship contracts:

1. Manchester United - GM (Chevrolet) - 80 mil $ / year
2. Barcelona - Qatar Airways - 45 mil $ / year
3. Bayern Munchen - Deutsche Telekom - 40 mil $ / year
4. Real Madrid - Emirates - 39 mil $ / year
5. Liverpool - Standard Chartered - 31 mil $ / year

The contract for 63 million dollars signed by Manchester City with Emirates was not considered for this ranking, because it includes the right to use the name of the stadium.

when we sign that new Nike deal too after the 2014-2015 season Proud

last one was 13 years £302.9 million

you can easily say the next one will be double that depending on the amount of years but I bet the per year # will be double no matter what Proud

who needs Sheikhs and Oil crooks when you are the greatest brand in all of sport  Proud

I expect somewhere around 15 years £700 million.....you never know by that time it could be £1 billion for 15 years or so

I doubt it Barcelonas deal is fairly recent and look at that #...i think we took GM to the cleaners honestly but that is not our problem lol GM clearly values the brand of United and it's grasp in America and all over the world

Ours is more recent than theirs though. Once they see how much we milked GM. They'd demand more from their sponsors

Fair enough.

Plus, apparently the reason ours is so high according to Forbes is that the Chevrolet deal was so expensive that GM’s former CMO, lost his job because he misrepresented the true value of the deal to GM top management.
