Re: Marco van Ginkel
Blues, what can you tell me about van Ginkel as a player and your thoughts on his success tangent for Milan, and/or as a player as a whole?

Re: Marco van Ginkel
Same much as I'd like to write a 1000 word post about what MVG is like as a player, it is difficult, due to his injury sustained last season, we barely saw him play for us. You will have to give him some time to get back into the swing of things, he has had preseason with us so he should be match fit, although a tad rusty. So he may take a few games to get rid of the rust.
However, he is a B2B player who will defend well and get you some goals. He has very good technique and is a quality passer, He will often look for the pass over trying to dribble. He isn't slow but not overly quick either, he is 6 1, so he doesn't get bullied easily. Overall, he is a good all round midfielder who doesn't have many glaring weaknesses. He'll be quite a player for you if Pippo can get the best out of him.
He is good enough to be starting for Milan while Montolivo is out and if he reproduces his Vitesse form for you, I imagine he will start once Montolivo is back, too.

A midfield of:
Would be very solid as you've got the destoryer, the playmaker and the B2B. Very complete if they all found top form.
De Jong

Re: Marco van Ginkel
Kick, thank you very much for that detailed and comprehensive review of van Ginkel.
I'd imagine he would have a role similar to a Frank Lampard for us, given how I have heard of his dynamic and all-round ability/tendencies. If he can usurp Poli/Bonaventura or act as a Mez'zala, the latter I predict in how Pippo will use him, it would be fascinating.
I like your realistic semantic as I know you follow Milan, which brings further credibility to your idea.
Problem is, we have no option-to-buy and if he performs, you guys will be unlikely to sell MvG to us given his ceiling and that Pippo will not likely integrate him as an integral player since he is on a standard issue loan.
Though given the recent transfer relationship between the clubs, maybe a deal can be resolved.
Thanks once again.

Re: Marco van Ginkel
Yes, he was bought as our long term Frank Lampard successor.
I do tend to Follow Milan more-so than other Italian teams, I think He will have a good battle with Poli for a starting spot but isn't Bonaventura more of an AM/Winger?
As for the option to buy, I can't imagine Chelsea will want to sell due to his potential and even if we did, we wouldn't let him go for anything under 15m pounds.
I also think, given Milan's current situation, If MVG hits good form, not playing him due to his status would be silly as he is the kind of player that could propel Milan up the ladder, given enough game time. Even if he doesn't stay beyond a year, the higher up the ladder Milan gets, the better the replacement for him will be.

Re: Marco van Ginkel
Bonaventura has yet to be designated a role as he is similar to Marchisio as a player, only preferring to play in a more advanced role. Pippo's formations will range from a 4-2-3-1 to a currently favoured 4-3-3, in which players such as Honda are sacrificed in a wide role, as is SES, who is actually a central player and better when playing central. So we've yet to see.
I completely agree now that you've brought up a good point on the use of van Ginkel, as Milan are usually adept at negotiating certain deals beyond the contract stature and we might see van Ginkel prefer to stay at Milan given how he adapts within the club.
Agreed as a whole, though.

Re: Marco van Ginkel
Fair enough, I have not seen much of Bonaventura to judge.
The good thing about MVG, he is able to play in either a 2 or 3 man midfield equally well, I think he will be an asset for Pippo, in that respect.
That would actually be a decent formation and beneficial for almost all the players, perhaps minus ES.
Another loan could always be on the cards, beyond this year. I think it really depends on how MVG performs, and whether or not Chelsea want to get rid of Ramires or Mikel for him.

@Milanello 2m
Van Ginkel: "I’m focused on Milan, but I’m happy about the fact that Chelsea didn’t include a buy-out clause in the transfer."
Interesting.

"Mourinho? I know he coached Inter, our rivals, but it doesn’t matter now because he’s at Chelsea. José thought about my future and my need to play and suggested me to join Rossoneri: it’s a great team and a chance I couldn’t miss out on."
