Re: Serie A Stadium News Thread
the fotos of palermos new ground for the euro 2016 looked great, i hope something is done quickly because serie a grounds look like 3rd world standerd. even the san siro needs a major facelift, looks kinda outdated now, mainy spurs fans i know who went to the ground were quite disapointed with the place, obviously inside its still grand and spectaculer but needs a lick of paint and overall a refurbishment

Teams like Cagliari, Palermo etc who really want and need a new stadium are just gonna keep getting put off by city councils until Italy gets a Euro / WC which won't be anytime soon sadly...

Brigate you got any news on Inter's stadium (Giacinto Fachetti Stadium) and San Siro being 100% Milan's?

Moratti was pushing hard last year to get plans approved on a state of the art 70,000 seater stadium but the council denied it. The 2014 date has now been changed to 2016. Nothing really recent to report on...
Re: Serie A Stadium News Thread
The start of season 2011/12 is drawing ever nearer. It promises to be a historic campaign for Juventus, who will play inside their new stadium for the very first time. Along with the start of season ticket sales (see news), intensive works are continuing inside the stadium. All proceeding as previously planned.
Great strides have been made in the last few weeks. Both inside and outside the structure.
In particular, the pitch has been a subject of great attention. The implementation of several systems, for drainage, irrigation and under soil heating, has been concluded. At the moment, the laying of the pitch – with sand, silt and clay - is taking place. For the completion of this step, the turf will be laid by the end of July.
The stands are also beginning to take shape. All the seats on the first level have been put in, with workers already focusing on the second level.
In the meantime, the internal furnishings of the stadium are being installed. The dressing rooms are being fitted out, along with the media section and the Tribuna 100 area. Works are due to move on to the platform area within the next few days.
Outside of the structure, the ‘stars’ to represent the 50 Bianconeri legends are beginning to be put in place. Alongside the legends are also the stars purchased by supporters through the ‘Light a Star’ initiative. The project is still ongoing, for more information, click here.
In terms of urbanisation, the works begun in the last few months (renovation of the junction in Venaria and completion of car parks) are continuing to proceed. In particular, Car Park 1 has already been completed, while Car Parks 2 and 3 are being finalised.

Palermo, step forward for the new stadium
Andrea Cardinaletti is a name that just says the most. In fact this is the new Commissioner, and former president of Credito Sportivo, a sort of public bank for sports dual mandate with the Ministry of Economy. This credit is for Sport means the entity that will co-finance 50% of the construction of new stadiums owned companies. Yesterday, Andrea Cardinaletti, speaking to the BBC said about that "after the Juventus stadium, there are new plants coming. We have defined the preliminary designs for three new stadiums: Udine, Cagliari and Palermo. Overall, we are talking about an investment about 120 million euros of which the credit will finance the sport fifty percent. " A small step towards the new stadium.

Huge update:
What Udinese's new stadium will look like (the first official video):
The whole video is good but from 8:00 onwards is amazing. I cannot wait for this to get underway. Will be one of the most modern and appealing stadiums in Italy. I love how they incorporate the old into the new. It really will be a sight to behold. The Friuliani are a lucky people

Plans for an upgrade of Novara's stadium are on going. If plans are approved, capacity would go from 9,300 to around 21,000.

Thanks Rossonero, I was waiting for some else to help contribute to this thread
I don't think Napoli will get a new stadium anytime soon, the fans love the San Paolo too much and the financial stability to build a stadium is not there.
Re: Serie A Stadium News Thread
Siena’s new stadium will be below ground level..
As Siena sit in position for promotion back up to Serie A, preparations are being made to ensure they play future matches below ground level. The unusual design for the club’s new stadium kind of looks like an in-ground swimming pool and is the winner of the prestigious 2011 Architectural Review Future Projects award.
The people responsible for the design, Marazzi Architetti, explain it like so:
The project develops the insertion of a large sport complex in a
prestigious environmental context. The Council of Siena, after
identifying a large area in the south of the city, left the designers
the responsibility to choose the most appropriate collocation for the
stadium.
Our proposal was to preserve the environmental integrity of the
area and with great attention the project appears like a kind of natural
incident caused by an idrogeological phenomenon or by an earthquake.
Like the ancient Greek Theater, the stadium for 20.000 spectators is
set within the Fossatone slopes, and takes shape as it curves through
its bends, opening out to create a spacious area for concerts and
outdoor events, excavated to form an inclined plane, offering a view of
Siena in the background.
On the west side the “inhabited roof” is the sole built element of
the stadium: this is a thick deck that emerges from the ground, projects
over the grandstand and ends with a pronounced overhang above the
curves.
It definitely is a creative design and blends in to the surrounding area. It also looks like it would create an amazing atmosphere for a match. Siena just better hope it never floods.
Construction hasn’t begun yet on the new stadium, which will be located in Isola d’Arbia. So it’s hard to say when it will be up and running.

Meh, Sienna's plans were announced more than a year ago now and still work has not begun. It makes me sad to say this but I feel as though it is yet another stadium 'built on paper'.
