Gran Turismo 6 Empty Gran Turismo 6

Gran Turismo 6 will be arriving this holiday season, with the first demo becoming available this July.

Gran Turismo 6 is heading to the PS3 this year, and it will feature 1200 cars and seven new tracks.

It'll also boast an all-new physics model developed in tandem with automotive manufacturers and an advanced graphics engine that introduces adaptive tesselation.

Gran Turismo 6 will also be introducing new tracks on a monthly basis as Polyphony supports the game beyond its projected release at the end of the year.

Silverstone itself is one of seven new tracks coming to the game, and while there's no official confirmation yet of what else will be joining the Northampton circuit there are already several pointers out in the wild. A video from the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year revealed a handful of old favourites will be returning, while Polyphony staff have been spotted scanning Australia's legendary Mount Panorama circuit in Bathurst.

The next installment in the series will feature all the cars and tracks from Gran Turismo 5, as well as many new cars, bringing the total amount of cars available to a whopping 1,200.

Finally, a new game engine — one that "pushes the limits" of the PS3, Sony claims — will make the game even more realistic-looking, which you can see in the trailer above.

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed that the upcoming sixth entry in the racing simulator series is also being considered for release on PlayStation 4.

Yamauchi told IGN, “We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now.”

Players eager to race around the world’s most iconic stadiums in all their next generation glory may want to put their brakes on though. Yamauchi adds, “I thought the best scenario would be to have the game come out, then to have new scenarios, new DLC and other updates. Once the players have thoroughly played out the system, if the PlayStation 4 version came out naturally, as part of that process, I think that would be the best scenario.”

Asked whether progress could be transferred from PS3 to future PS4 versions of the game, Yamauchi would only offer a coy “probably”.

The problem with Gran Turismo 5 was it lacked depth. It didn't feel like much of an improvement over previous versions. The online wasn't the best either.

I think for GT6 they could make the game like other sports games. The menus, online etc.
