Unirea Urziceni story is simple. Someone who become wealthy in post-revolution Romania, becoming wealthy by making some dodgy deals with state-run companies, by selling them screws with 100 euros a piece (yeah, you heard it right) and 50 euros for a washer (not a washing machine, but the thing that it's attached to the screw ). And if you can believe it, the transportation for the quantity of cement necessary for a backyard pool was 52.000 euros for 100 yards!!! Just the transportation.
He invested his hard earned cash in a residential area, just before the financial crisis. Nobody bought the apartments, so his cash flow was hardly hit.
So he choose the easy way. He denied the manager Dan Petrescu any transfer funds, he sold all the players that had offers, he survived in Romania's first league by making a team which virtually was made up by loaned players, cashed in the Champions League money and the Romanian League TV money, and then frakked off .

A story that would have made H&G extremely proud!

Imagine the shitstorm if this happened in a bigger league.

But if they only "failed to apply for a licence", maybe there's hope that the club will play again under a new regime.
