Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
Is the capitulation of Real & Barcelona underlines the fact that Spanish League has become less competitive! I'm asking this because you guys (most at least) watch more games (and myriad of leagues too) than I do.
My casual observation says apart from the Big Two only Atletico has a quality squad. And I suspect they lack proper cover or depth. Fact that Malaga HAD TO sell a key player in January says a lot about their strength (financial) while Valencia don't have any player who will bring another €20 million this summer. The rest! You know.
When you have to play only a handfull of competitive matches, it will affect your hunger, alartness etc. So when you meet a team that has quality across the field and want to push you all the way, you may find yourself wanting.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
Not really, Malaga was about to beat the fashion team that is Dortmund, not with a lot of difficulty.
It's just that Barça and Madrid are weaker and Barça especially in terrible form since February.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
I don't think anyone can argue against that. But is it because Barca/Real are more consistent??? With our start we were third until April so it just goes to show how strong and consistent you have to be to win the league
I mean there are clubs who play really attracting football like Sociedad and Betis but they don't have the depth to compete for the top two spots

Malaga sacrificed the league for CL. I don't think they would have kept it up in both competitions had they not been barred in CL for next season. Also their type of football doesn't cut it in the league

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
I'm inclined to say "yes".
Not Real Madrid and Barcelona, but the rest.
There is a lot of debt in Spanish football and now - with the financial crisis and everything - they are having to face it. Many of the clubs besides the big two are having to sell their best players every season.
I'm pretty sure next season, too, will see a new Cazorla, Michu, Monreal, Martinez and the likes depart the league.

3/8 teams in CL QF? It maybe have become weaker, but it's still atm the strongest league, or which league is stronger? Bundesliga, where champion was crowned ages ago?

Lol poor logic
Bayern would walk la liggarce just as easily seeing as they embarrassed the best team in spain by 7 goals. The team that is 20 point hehind them battered the second best teamin your league.

Oh come off it, Dortmund didn't batter Malaga, or Real, Bayern battered out of form, Messiless and injured Barca. Sometimes I really have take a deep breath, when the supposed quality posters act like bunch of naive children.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
Bayern's win over Barcelona was justified, a fully fit Messi wouldn't have made a difference; Bayern are just too good. Meanwhile, Dortmund enjoyed a lot of luck on their way to the final and won't enjoy such success in CL again anytime in the near future. On topic, La Liga will beat Bundesliga any day of the week.

Poor form or not 7 goals is a clear margin. Messi or not Bayern would have still battered you
You think I'm a quality poster
Tbh I still think la liga is the league with the best quality but I'm getting annoyed with ppl bringing up Bayerns lead as some sort of shock. We have seen them smash most teams in Europe, whether off form or not, bayern gave barca an anal examination. It should not take away the quality of the bundesliga.
La liga
Bundlesliga
EPL = serie A
That's my rating ATM.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
I feared these league vs. league comparisons after the SF's.
Why does the league someone watches (which more often than not is just 1 team) have to be better than the other one?
There are too many factors involved to make a conclusive statement and most of the time it's a personal choice/birthright.
It'd be like me chastizing someone for enjoying big booty anal porn because I get turned on by cute redheads.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
I disagree. La liga hasn't become weaker. It is just going through a similar phase as the PL is.
The mid table to upper mid table teams have become even more stronger. The quality in the sides such as Malaga/Betis/Sevilla/Atletico/Valencia is better than in most other mid table teams. The race for 4th is a great example. Most managers guiding those teams are full of ideas and innovation, they are constantly improving the teams.
However same can't be said for Madrid and Barca. They haven't improved from last year. Similarly, Like in EPL, mid table table teams have become stronger while the likes of City have become weaker. It's not that league has weakened, but the elite teams.
Will never understand that.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
La Liga isn't weaker than last season despite the obvious negatives that plague the teams in the league. Several of the mid table teams have gotten better in recruiting and managing their players, hell, even Valencia is seemingly getting their act together. La Real, Betis, Atletico, Valencia, Malaga have all shown this season that they are not to be messed with and hopefully they can continue this trend.
Problem is that the flagship teams, Barcelona and Real Madrid have regressed this season particularly Real Madrid. Barcelona started off hot and sweaty but faded badly into the season but they weren't defending champions of either Spain or Europe so winning La Liga has would be "a plus". Real Madrid, however, were defending champions and had the resources to improve their squad to which they didn't. Their issues are there to be seen so no need for me to write about it.
And then there is Athletic Bilbao, what a damn shame.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
Depends on peoples definition of 'better' Gil.
If you're looking for quality all the way down, the EPL is probably better.
But if you rate a league on how the better teams perform in Europe (Which is a good way to rate it imo) then BuLi is well ahead right now.
There's no point in debating it unless the people debating have the same method of rating a league. Otherwise you're stuck in a loop of
"League A had better CL reps"
"Yeah but league B has better teams throughout the league"
"League A's best teams would beat league B's best teams"
etc etc.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
So in the year when Malaga were an offside goal away from kicking Dortmund, supposed 2nd best team in the world, out of the competition, 2 Spanish teams made semi-finals of the CL (2 more than Italy or England), Atletico kicked Madrid out of the top 3 for 6 months, and all of Malaga, Valencia and Real Sociedad had a thrilling push for the 4th spot... the league is weaker than ever?

PL is mediocre....
BTW i don't like rating leagues on how a country does in the CL it is far too narrow minded.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
Real Madrid and Barca have lost important games before and I don't think anyone was questioning La Liga's competitiveness then.
Bundesliga isn't the strongest league yet Bayern and Dortmund are doing well.
Also I think Valencia can get at least 20m for Banega and also for Soldado.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
My sincere appologies for starting a 'This League is Better than that League' nonsense. Should have foreseen it. For those who have stayed on topic:
(Again I don't watch as much as some of you do) In no other League the top-two positions are so stable. True, 2-3 teams are still in rekoning for the 4th spot but:
1. You can't expect any other than R&B to finish 1-2. While that will be unheard of in another League.
2. Don't you think CL contenders in other Leagues (Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Milan, Napoli, Viola, Leverkusen, Scalke) are better than Valencia, Malaga, Betis!
3. In other Leagues you have a bunch (ranging 3-5) of teams that are evenly (roughly) matched. But, in Spain the two are just miles ahed.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
Not at all. You had Malaga almost eliminate Dortmund in the quarters and same with Madrid in the semis. Almost every year, you have 3 spanish clubs in elimination rounds of both CL and Europa.
To me, Bundi and La Liga are the two best leagues in terms of quality of football. EPL just has a lot better marketing.

Re: Has Spanish League Become Weaker!
I personally enjoy BL and Serie A the most football wise..... not to say they are the best just what i enjoy.
I haven't watched La Liga properly in about 6 months though so i can't really comment.
PL i mainly watch for Newcastle and that is pure torture, other games i don't really follow other than MOTD etc etc.
