Real Sociedad 3-1 Malaga

Dont see any mention of this, but I thought this was a significant result.

Not watched Sociedad apart from when they played Barca And I know Malaga fielded almost a second team for this game, and do u think they should have done this? I know obviously their focus in on the Dortmund second leg and now they are 4 points behind Sociedad, level with Betis and just 1 above Valencia who are improving. The race for 4th should be intense.

Who do u think will get it? Would be strange to have Malaga miss out finally reaching the last 8 with a chance of even the last 4 this season...

They aren't in European competition next season anyway.

It's not like it matters to them a much as it did before the UEFA decision. Might as well do their best to progress in the Champions League and keep a decent league position.

man... even if malaga goes 4th, they are still banned from european competition next season, so if Sociedad end up 5th in the league.. they are through to UCL

I didnt keep up with this news.... just read up on it, it seems numerous "smaller" clubs were also banned and some even for 3 years....very severe punishments... no wonder they are giving their all now and given up to fight for 4th...

Not sure but I remember b4 sometimes these investments in clubs by some dodgy owners are not uncommon and I feel bad for Malaga... only a short lived success. I wonder if they will be able to keep their stars and Pellegrini. If not it would be interesting to see which club he moves to

I always thought the financial rules will take time to be implmented and that punishments will be unlikely to be so severe so soon, the big clubs dont really get penalised yet anyway, MAlaga must be the first big one to be, although probablyh many other clubs are not meeting the rules~

Soceidad have been beasting this season, great to see Vela finally happy and I look forward to seeing this team play in Europe next season
