Buffon: 'Neuer can define an era'

Gigi Buffon praised his Bayern Munich counterpart Manuel Neuer ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash. “He can define an era.”

This evening the first leg of their quarter-final will be played at the Allianz Arena and Juventus goalkeeper Buffon spoke to Sky Sport Italia.

“We face Bayern the same way we faced Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk. That means with the right humility, awareness of our opponents who have great talent and world class individuals.

“This is why we will face them with the right degree of caution, but not forgetting to play our game too.”

Neuer has been mentioned as one of the heirs to Buffon on the world stage and they seem set to exchange shirts tonight after the final whistle.

“I really like Neuer, as he is physically imposing, makes his presence felt in the box, is strong on crosses and has everything it takes to define an era.”
