Angus and Julia Stone are brilliant. I agree that's not actually my favorite song by them, it just happens to be the most popular because it's...their most catchy song.

My recommendation would be Rise Against.

Rise Against have some good stuff. I liked them until I started to listen to some of their recent stuff years ago and then I said "this sucks" and now I rarely listen to them.

But the reason why I rarely listen to them is because I mellowed out hardcore

I like rock, but I wouldn't call that whiney, emo stuff you mentioned rock. More its annoying cousin.

Rise against? Cant say I know them well. Hunch that they're much more respectable than say, Panic at the Disco .

Of course I like Rage and the likes, bands like Muse (not latest trash) and even went through obsession w/ Metallica and Slayer. Tool as well

Cb: If you like rock, look up Powderfinger. Probably Australia's best rock band IMO. They were before indie movement though.

Agreed with pretty much everything here. And Muse really are just trash these days. Such a shame because they were my favorites for a long time. I'd go so far to say I like Sigur Ros more than them now, even. Radiohead and Sigur Ros

I'll check them out. I like some rock but I'm very picky nowadays because like I said I've mellowed out a lot in my musical preferences.
