Things We Learned This Midweek
-Europa League for the 10th time this year has proven to be aesthetically & tactically superior to the Champions League as evidenced with games like Lazio vs BMG, for one. No argument about this, the far better tournament.
-Mazzari continues to spew his scorn against the EL with the almost disrespectful team he fielded vs Plznen, even caught laughing in the 80+ minutes. His boycott of the EL for his Scudetto ambitions are laughable.
-Atletico well and truly rely on Falcao.
-Liverpool are shit....actually we learned nothing here.
-Europa League's referees seem to love giving bad calls. As evidenced by their horrendous calls vs Newcastle and carrying Borrusia Monchengladbach to 3 goals.
-Dembele? Please, Gareth Bale is carrying Tottenham.
Post what you learned.

Re: Things We Learned This Midweek
- Referees in the box are useless
- Vercoutre is a bad goalkeeper
- Lyon still has a chance with that away goal, as Garde *bleep* up the first half today with his 0-0 strategy. We were much more dangerous in the second half.

2 sloppy penalties for Gladbach that was a bit meh, but Diaz and Cana were HORROR shows and can blame themselves.

Lyon were far from shit. Dominated most of the game while Spurs had to rely on two (one of them savable) FK from the Welsh Kevin Constant. I would be proud if I were a Lyon fan.

I am starting to believe that Petkovic is a very smart tactician. Lazio is a smart team with a winning mentality. Slow dinosaurs make up for it with experience and smartness.

Basel manage a clean sheet and score against the team that so far in Europe scored at least 2 goals per match and only allowed 2 goals against altogether. Yay Yann Sommer! Yay Valentin Stocker & Marco Streller!
Oh, and neither Hannover 96 nor BMG ever fail to entertain in Eueope

Re: Things We Learned This Midweek
Gonalons had a great game vs Tottenham, was dominant and getting the ball back quite easily. Too bad the referee gave a fault at the last minute against him. Without that, his performance would have been flawless.
His first big match was against Liverpool in the CL, and now he show he can dominate against Spurs midfield. I think that he would easily find its place in the Premier league top teams.

Re: Things We Learned This Midweek
i learned that entertainment in this specific competition is solely relied in german teams and their sloppy approach coming from the bundesliga,
the rest of the world participating is either not giving a shit or just try their best with their poor quality football they produce giving to the world meaningless encounters to the neutrals

EAST FIX
Winner gets a spot in the Group stages of CL following season.
And it does not get in the way of the 4th/3rd place team in the league table getting in.
For example last years winner Atletico Madrid would have been in the CL along with the other 4 La Liga team 5 la Liga teams
Guarantee they would take it serious.

Celtic are worse than some of the bottom mid-table English teams. If they were in the PL,i think they would be fighting relegation honestly speaking.

I don't see your point . It's like saying if Newcastle or everton were playing in the scottish league or [ insert the name of a random league here ] they would be fighting for title every year

....what? lol
Unfair comparison, considering how they did vs a team like Barca...a team that actually stepped up to play football and not park the bus. League games rarely have a full 90 minute bus like Juve did, so you cant compare Celtics game vs Juve as to how they would do in the EPL. No sense whatsoever.

The game against barca was just luck. Occasionally minnows like Wolves/Reading/Liverpool can get a result against a top side like United/City but majority of the time they're going to lose.
