Re: Jonny Evans
The thing is, SAF is a tremendous man manager. He knows Evans is a liability at times, but he also knows behind all his fck ups that occasioanlly cost us, there is a really good defender who sometimes lacks confidence.
He will continue to play Evans over Rio, Jones, Fabio...every defender apart from Vidic. To boost his confidence up.

Re: Jonny Evans
I have had my doubts, even though I have never wanted him to be sold. It has been stop and start, in terms of progression, since his fantastic start at the club. I was shocked to see him degrade so much, but what I loved was the fact he came out this season and acknowledged that it was complacency, which affected his progression. I was never sure about him against physically imposing strikers, but this season, he has put an end to that and is asserting himself much more, something which he was never renowned for in the last two seasons.
I must hand it to him, though. He looks more composed, solid, fit (no, not in that sense) and is our best ball playing centre-back, his distribution for a centre-back is the best in the league, in my opinion. Where the problem lies for Evans, at the moment, is the faith shown to him by the fans. He's had some terrific games this season, he's been our best centre-back this season, but too many are clinging on his mediocrity last season, which is unfair. Also, the Manchester City game did him no favours, but he had a decent first half. Even rival fans are overshadowed by their hatred to give him recognition. He's similar to Carrick, in the sense that more people find it easier to criticise him than praise him for his tremendous efforts. I'm delighted with the fine displays - long may this form continue.

Re: Jonny Evans
Since that dreaded game, it's a testament to his self belief and hard work to how he has turned himself into our most impressive defender. I was one of his biggest haters, but I am glad he is shutting me (and all the rest of the Utd fans who shared a similar opinion of him) up.

I am more laughing at the idiots responsible for agreeing to give him 65k a week tbh.
He's probably jumping up and down with joy and shock as we speak tbh.

Re: Jonny Evans
That's it United. Keep the mediocrity and ignore the positions in dire need for revamp.
Only club that thought they could win a CL with Welbeck up top.

I think its a good move on Uniteds part
He seems to be improving a lot and this locks him down long term

Re: Jonny Evans
He's been really good as of late, maybe a "late" bloomer. Doesn't surprise me he got a new contract, maybe 65k is a bit too much 50k sounds about right but either way he's been playing really well and earnt a new contract.

lol...dire defenders, awful midfield, mediocre attackers
So is it smoke and mirrors that keep United at the top of the league or?

Re: Jonny Evans
He is one of your best CB assuming that Vidic and especially Rio will keep missing games and games due to many reasons
So i don't think he is WC but for the 2-3 years to come he would be reaaly good for MU

Re: Jonny Evans
WTF are half of the people here alking about? Do you even watch United? He has been our best defender bar non since the city game ffs. Rio, Jones and Evra have been liabilities. Funny that noone here brings up Evra who has consistently been shite for almost half a decade ffs! Evans is starting to fulfill his potential and people here need to STFU. Madrid concede almost every game ffs, yet they have the best LB, the best Cbs on the planet, even though their CBs make errors every game, hell on Madrid fan said Ramos is a better CB than Pique ffs, Pique...Ramos....better than Pique....Seriously, United dont have a MF, We have crap attackers and we have crap defenders, but we are top of the league, this forum is becoming more and more of a laughing stock everyday...

johnny evans does not deserve 65k per week IMO just because you disagree doesnt warrant a ridiculous tangent.

Re: Jonny Evans
Dont talk nonsense about Madrid fans to fuel your rant bro, no one has said that Ramos is a better defender. Ramos is having a better season than Pique who has been awful week in and week out, bar some big games.
Evans is not as bad as people make him sound to be. He has been consistent this season, and he has the trust of his coach. He had a massive blunder against City but other than that i think he produces the goods.

Same guy that made Evans the scapegoat for every dire United defensive performance.
